My main concern about this is that while Harrah's/ESPN presumably have a short-term interest in the exposure and popularity of the game, I don't see that they have the interests of the players at heart. Clearly there is some overlap IF these organizations know what they are doing commercially. However the whole history of televised poker is notable for the surprises it caused amongst allegedly savvy marketing execs. The success of the WPT on the Travel Channel was apparently a complete surprise. Those of you who have attended the WSOP over the last few years can not have been thrilled ...
