Looking to get into online poker
You all know the saga by now, so I'll spare the details, but I'm looking to get back into online poker. Obviously I'm a little hesitant with thousands of my dollars floating above my head in space, but I'm a gambler, so here I am. What's the best site out there to play in terms of No-limit selection' I'll be starting small, but always love moving up the ladder and taking shots. What's the best site out there in terms of payouts' I'd like to not have to wait months, but today I know it's asking a lot to be fast or normal speed. I'd also like to avoid any where shady, if at all ...

Preflop betsizing
Limps aside, I don't think 4xing is profitable. Remember, later in tournaments people are less willing to call than they are in earlier stages and it's hard for weaker hands to come in facing 4x. In addition to the fact that 2.5x will get folds later in tourneys, because of stack sizes tourney situations (aka money and ft bubble). It's an unnecessary raise. I raise 2.5-2.8x and I find it effective. Not bad as much as inexperienced with their bet sizing or predictable.

laid KK live cash game
Aside from looking at the player to get a reaction, I think you made the right fold. If he's tight and two pair isn't in his range, then his range looks like JJ-QQ and sets. So, this was the one time he had QQ. It is what it is. I don't like your odds of making a profit in this spot most of the time. Just sometimes he has the one hand you beat.

Poker in New Hampshire
Play at the rock, if you're a good player, you're going to crush the game IMO. There's so much dead money there. So many donks and fools. I would have gladly gotten myself kicked out for that......Not before I told to meet me any where for HU whatever the heck he wanted to put up.

Not as much as it use to. Just in plan poker terms, it's a terrible idea to not at your cards, not just because you have clue what you have, so you don't know how to bet. Also, because you're stripping away information ON WHAT HE HAS. You just put more random cards in the deck. The kid read the situation very well. Save the creativity for the 20 dollar tourneys.

WSOP $2,500 3-bet pot
Very well played sir. I like everything you did. The question I'd like to ask is are you ever 3 barrel bluffing your middle pairs or ace high here' Taking the same line, just with the river shove'

You have to reraise pre.....I assume queens/ak/JJ/AQ are in his range. You can't fold unless you have a very sick read.

Phil Hellmuth Gunning for Bracelet #12
I love Hellmuth, he's hilarious at the table. As much as I enjoy the game itself and the strategy, etc.....He brings an awesome, "Charles Barkley esque" charisma to the table. As for his skills, he's good enough to do whatever he wants, any time he wants. He literally lives the dream.

$1500 WSOP - QQ facing 4b
Yes, this spot just sucks for you. Best case scenario he's going crazy with AQ-Ak, 10-JJ, but then you have to play the rest of the pot OOP with him easily reping AA-KK with three barrels (If he doesn't ship turn). It feels weird to have to smooth call QQ to an aggressor, but it's probably the best thing.

Hmmmm, lady 4-bets......50-50 I fold........ No to this.....Weak bets aren't effective, he's just going to check down anything that you have beat. Waste of money.

So, it doesn't indicate anything then. It's just your standard process, right' As for the hand itself, let's take it back to the beginning. It's hard for me to put him on AA-KK, given the action, however it isn't impossible for them to be in there. Which leaves hands like suited aces I think he'd play, broadway cards and pairs below QQs........The flop is a massive hit for your range, considering your tight image and 3bet pre-flop. Once you cbet the flop and he calls, I'd take all two pairs (doubting he has AK) out of his range, since he would have to raise them now or never......That leaves ...

Derby Lane
I've played at Derby for three years now. The tournament structures aren't too bad, considering the crap the Hard Rock puts out. Pay-outs are meh. As for Cash, their 2/5 games are borderline horrendous, unless you find the right table/players. It isn't fun to grind with 8 old guys who all have 200 in front of them. Most of the Derby 2/5 players only buy-in for 200, which sucks, if you want to make money. The 5/10 game is a lot better, because guys come in with stacks, for the most part and want to play.

IMO tanking for a long time usually doesn't indicate huge strength. That's just my experience, unless you know someone is trying to hollywood, which usually is pretty obvious.

1/2 live cash game flop, turn and side pot questions
You have to blast the flop. The check-call there is terrible, because you put yourself in such a bad spot. That's a HUGE draw board and you're liking far too little turn cards. You have to get it in on the flop and hope for the best.

advice on a couple 1-2nl hands please
No one at 1/2 IMO would or is capable of bluffing or 3betting the flop over two previous raises with anything less than two pair. If he has top pair there he is either *sigh* calling or *sigh* folding. Your play pre. is fine, I wouldn't make a habit of it, but it isn't that terrible. Your flop re-raise of the initial raiser was good too, but once he 3bets you're done. Meh, I don't think shoving is terrible. Your shove is about a pot size bet. 151 or so into 140. Calling is an option if he has a huge hand or top pair. That's read based and hope he ships river, if he checks you can make a 75 ...

Live 1/2 hand... WWYD?
3bet ship flop is the play IMO (Or fold pre. if you aren't going to get it in on this flop.) I very much doubt the guy has a straight if he's overbetting the flop like this. I'm not putting him on many sets (remember have a 3 and a 4, he'd have to have the last of both to have 3s or 4s), which leaves just 5s-a5-67 as his crushing us range. I don't see him making such a bet with those hands, when he can smooth call and trap behind on a board that isn't scary. If we smooth the flop there too bad turns IMO, plus we're out of position. We don't like any A, 2, 6, 7, 5.....I would just get it in, ...

Tipping?
People have to make a living. Give a good tip, get good karma. The end. Doesn't mean we can't help. I give a buck when I win a pot pre-flop (standard pre. flop raise, one or two limper who folds type). I give 2 bucks when I win post (standard cbet win). Then I vary based on how much I win to maybe 5-8.

Reoccurring spot in NL Cash games.
All depends on the player as people have said and your history with him/his history with others. You can't just assume he has you beat, because you opened early and cbet. Then, there's different flop textures. In general you shouldn't be afraid to call flop bets, especially on dry flops or pair'ed board flops.

Venetian $1,600 turn spot
I think the pre-flop call is good. You have a well-disguised hand for the image that you have, plus you're getting good odds with the BTN certain to call with his image. In addition to the image of the guy 3betting from the SB. Once we get to the flop, I'm happy with the situation. We hit one of our best flops. When the SB leads out, even with his image, I have to give him credit for SOMETHING. I'm not putting a lot of air in his range, given that he is a smart player and recognizes how dry that flop is. Furthermore, I doubt he expects the BTN to fold to just one barrel, thus he'd have to ...

Playing against bad players
It's more like why did he get it in with 150BBs with 33.........I don't think jamming is the right play though, because you'd assume (unless you have a read) that he isn't a donk and would only call your shove that early with qq-aa, ak. If it's that early, there's no harm in calling and seeing a flop. As for the question in general. You can always just call and see a flop. You're so deep and if you have qq-aa, ship it for value if they're going to stack off.

3Betting in Live Cash
I play in Tampa, at the Hard Rock Casino. That's about my range for 3betting right now, only I'd say top 5 hands. You're absolutely correct about the pot bloating and set mining. At some places around Tampa/St. Pete area you catch 2/5 games with stacks of 200 around the table. I try stay away from those kind of spots, where my implied odds are than less optimal. Also a true statement. They all want in the hand, but once the flop comes and the pressure amps up, they tend to shy away. I'm just searching for that range and/or that particular spot, being that are many variables. The biggest ...

a hand from the venetian deepstack.
Agree with Gags. I love betting my sets into people heads-up on the flop. I think that's the right play here, because we're cbetting most of range that misses the flop (aq-aj), along with our marginal hands (a10, q10, j10, qq, jj) and our best draw (qj). Makes us easier to read if we never cbet our sets on the flop and only c/r them. I'd like to see you bet at least half the pot on the turn or perhaps even ship, given the amount of draws out there. You're going to put him to a much tougher decision.

3Betting in Live Cash
You know the deal, trying to re-transition to the live cash game. I'm playing 2/5 NL at my local casino in Florida and I'm looking for suggestions/tips(') on what people think would be good spots to 3bet/4bet in a game where people have very little clue in what they're doing and even less of idea what anyone else is doing. My strategy is to play my bigs hands, set mind my smaller PPs (77-) and play my position when I came with suited connectors and "big" cards. I've been fairly successful, so far.

Calling Range for Massive Overshove?
I think you have his range about right. He could even have qq-aa or aq, 8s depending how crazy this guy is sometimes. You have over 30bbs, so you don't need to make a loose call in this spot IMO.
