Good tax news for Professional Gamblers
Seems front page worthy to me and definitely worth putting in the poker forums if you haven't already done so.

DOJ: Wire Act Only Applies to Sports Betting
Thanks for commenting in this thread Rich. I'm still trying to understand this. Without interpreting or predicting what will happen, is this what did happen: 1. UIGEA passed, prohibiting "gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law." 2. In spite of the unclear interpretation of the wire act as applied to non-sports betting somehow the implication became that it was illegal to offer online poker in the US (here I'm ...

BetOnline is trying to steal $65,000 from me (cliff notes at end)
I thought I'd throw my 2 cents into the thread...I used to wager horses at BetOnline. I was a winner overall and they eventually barred me (Horse wagers are not co-mingled in the parimutual pool so you are truly wagering against the house here). This was certainly their right, and I don't hold this against them. However before they did this they refused to pay my unique winning ticket in a superfecta (which should have been the whole pool minus takeout). I went back and forth with the book manager to no avail. Basically he told me that they weren't going to pay it and that was it. For reasons ...

TheMiltMan--Borgata Poker Open
Hello Everyone, My name is Niels Rikhof (TheMiltMan). I plan on playing a number of events at the Borgata Open. My live play results can be found here: Traveling in recent years has been harder with a family, and I concentrated on online play until BF. I've been playing occasional live cash since then at our nearest casino. Online I've won the Super Tuesday, Sunday Mulligan, Nightly Hundred Grand, Sunday 100R, AP 150k Weekly and others with over thirty-five 5 figure cashes and $2 million in wins to my credit. Though I've never been overly active posting on forums, I have been ...

Future of Online Poker in the USA
Pretty sure this is a case where we'll have to agree to disagree. To clarify, I believe in the inherent superiority of the social democratic systems of the more successful European (northern) countries. I think any meaningful measurement of a country's success (health care, education, social freedoms, overall quality of life) points to this success over our rampant greed/capitalism system which we endure in this country. Wasn't endorsing a North Korean economic system or anything if that wasn't clear.

Here's one vote for the idea...but then I'm a socialist who thinks that the only entity worse at running a business than the government is big business. I remember who got bailed out...

New York Post; Congress may OK online gambling
I think many pro's could do well to read the post of Shakhtar. Before BF I thought that the Frank bills were the ones that had the best chance of protecting the "rights of poker players" as opposed to the rights of corporations to make obscene profits. Without intimate knowledge, I felt like these ones came from the personal freedom perspective the best. I think it is quite likely that what passes in the US is some form of legislation that gives us back our "freedom" to play a game that is no longer worth playing.

$1600 Turning Stone Main Event, 9 players Left
Think you're going to know the table dynamic better and more subtly than can be described in a post. The only certainty is that if you felt the turn call was right you have to go with it on the river.

Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1
Wacky, I know you, and from the looks of it, many others are out $ on this stake. My contact with Will amounts to 1 week at a CardRunners camp last fall and occasionally talked to him on skype. With that as a background, I'd be surprised if you are without hope. I could be wrong of course, but I'd bet Will makes amends eventually. In the spectrum of "scams" I'd guess this is closer to the mismanaged funds situation than the actively scamming situation, and my guess would be that he'll make good. I have no involvement from either side and only offer this to give you some hope because I know ...

Pick 6 Carryover Interest?
My tickets (not gonna give all of them now as there were more that 40) used the following: 7 (winner of first leg) 49, 6,7 4 3,8...2,6 5...1,3,4,7 9..5,10..1,6,12 keys for me: speed cant do too well, and obv all my tickets go thru Patine in the 3rd who absolutely got sawed off in debut...I didn't do a very good job in the 9th I don't think. Obv if the 5 is fit he takes it...Shoulda probably committed to a line here.

Pick 6 Carryover Interest?
I've thought about posting this for a number of years--being riffed by the US gov has brought it back to mind so I thought I'd post. Are there people interested in trying to go after Pick 6 carryover pools' For those who don't know, a pick 6 carryover pool is created when no one correctly picks the winners of all 6 races on the pick 6 card. This creates a carryover going into the next day's racing. As there are no live wagers from the previous day, this wager can offer a plus ev opportunity. The downside is of course that hitting the winners of 6 straight races is difficult. Often it is ...

Kentucky Derby Day Picks
Guessing most links will be buffering hard come derby time. 1 Additional though I forgot. Rather than pick the top horses, I found it better to eliminate horses. If you can get the field down to 10-13 horses that you think can hit the board exotics become much more managable.

Kentucky Derby Day Picks
Haven't seen the usual Tread picks...Thought I might offer the following: My picks to win are 1, 2, 8, 13, 16, 17, 19 Place picks: 1, 2, 8, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19 General truisms (IMO): 1. Wide open race 2. Off the pace style has done well in the days leading up to the derby 3. Exactas/Tri's/Supers are rewarded w/10fold increase in expected payout. Ave exacta maybe 1200 in derby lately, average tri maybe 12000, and average super maybe 140000. So that might guide your risk/reward approach. General hopes for a successful day for me: 1. Poly/Turf form wont be the handicap in this race that it has ...
