Re:PokerStars Security - Won't Close My Account - Won't Refund My Money Freezing a players account is a drastic measure. It's not a small time thing; we're talking about freezing their funds. With a list of players that I have never heard of before ' How did they come up with the list of players ' How ' By running a query against the history in their database. When that is done there is normally some sort of post processing to ensure that the list of players makes sense in some way. In my case it doesn't. And by the way just because your to stupid to understand software doesn't mean that I am. Fives weeks is more then enough time for me to get ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

PokerStars Security - Won't Close My Account - Won't Refund My Money About a week ago I get this email that they are freezing my account with a list of players that I supposedly have some potential relationship with. I have only had an account on PokerStars for the past 5 weeks and have lost about 1K for the trouble. I don't know any of the players and to be honest am a relatively unsophisticated player who only does it for fun now and then. I told them as much in an email. They send me an email back: ============================================================= Hello XXXX, Thank you for your reply. We have now established that you are not related to ... Re:PokerStars Security Software : ITS FULL OF BUGS - Guess Who Pays ? PokerStars does database queries that run against some code that tries to determine if you are collaborating with another account. That code is b-r-o-k-e-n. How do I know ' Because it came up with this large list of players I have never heard of before. There is no way that I have collaborated with any of them and there is quite a few on the list. The security software does a historical query and they have some code that tries to determine if there is collaboration by looking at the history database they have. It's called broken software - if they come up with a match - they FREEZE ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

PokerStars Security Software : ITS FULL OF BUGS - Guess Who Pays ? I've been writing software for 25 years ; have a university eduction in computer science so I've seen a few broken screen algorithms. I know for a fact that PokerStars has broken software since they came up with this ridiculous list of people that I supposedly knew and was collaborating with. Since I"m a small time player and have some pretty significant losses on that site I can assure you that I have NEVER collaborated. And you should see the list of players that they have alleged that I have suspicious activity with ''' It's totally ridiculous and defies common sense. ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Here is my 2nd letter to my Senators. I truly believe the senate could pass an outright ban on domestic online gambling. When it comes to gambling the government asserts broad police powers historically. I read an interview with a constitutional law expert / proffessor at some university who was of the opinion that the Washington state online poker ban was legal under the powers of the state. As for the proponents of online prohibition in government there is a more intelligent solution then an outright ban especially for online poker which can be recognized as skill based. This is an area that would have been ripe for a rider in ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): how can we get around this bill You guys are clue-less with respect to how your privacy is being taken away. The government already knows which Internet sites you frequent. And it is RECORDED and it can be DATA-MINED anytime they want. So we will read in the future of naive poker players caught up in a 'sweep' by federal agents. Kiss your privacy good-bye - it's already gone - you just don't know it because the Bush administration is desparate to keep it a secret. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

House Passes Online Gambling Bill I told you --- this is a Republican controlled government. Republicans usually favor things like prohibition. The president will for sure sign it. You can expect most all of the republican senators to vote on the senate prohibition. Better hope all of the democrats senators vote against it, as well as a few republicans. The age of liberty in america is gone. We now have republican morality and control, they are also trying to get all of the 'activist' judges out. Read that as republicans define morality and take away your freedom. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): I did the email my congressman things, here is a reply I'm hoping the mid-term elections shake some of the folks in congress up a little. I wrote the first term republican congressman Dave Reichert a letter about this issue. He is very public about explaining that he is 'his own man' and willing to vote against bills that other republicans support. This means he is scared of being voted out - have you looked at the polls - there are a lot of pissed off voters in this country ( who don't give a damm about online poker ) that are going to vent at the polls in November. And the incumbants are worried about voter backlash ending their run in ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): So why is it that the major sites are staying quiet? Are we going to find out that the people behind the online sites who have made huge money decided not to spend any of it lobbying congress ' Google is getting involved, and the poker sites could chime in and they could collectively form a very powerful lobbying group in Washington. That is how business gets done in the halls of congress - high power lobbying costs real money and all of the major corporations in America spend significant sums lobbying congress to protect their business interests. In fact the Republican congress is one of the most easily bought that we have had in power in a ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): while waiting for tourney, try the slots Congrats man - i like playing the Wheel Of Fortune Slot. Yes I know it's negative expectation mathematically. But only slightly and it's just a lottery that you can play hoping to hit an outlier event for some big score. I was up on my last trip to Vegas a few K on the slots - it calms me down. One other thing some of the lessons in poker; e.g. variance does apply to slots. For example on an extended cold slot streak - I kept playing knowing that in order for the expectation math to work out I needed to hit something - and I did - a very sweet little jackpot. I don't care what anyone thinks ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Internet Freedom Initiative In Washington State there is an initiative process for putting laws on the books without government approval. The State Of Washington hates the initiative process. ITS TIME FOR A STATE INTERNET FREEDOM ACT This initiative would mandate the state to put to a popular vote ( imagine that letting the people vote ) any tax, or any law that would restrict the availability of the Internet to state residents. The law would exclude child pornography which is already illegal but would specifically repeal the ban on online gambling. There would have to be a majority vote to tax the internet ( which ... How I Donked My Way To Third... ( Help ) I know I should have raised pre-flop but my girlfriend who was right next to me was on the final table in another tournament and I was distracted. Turns out it would not have mattered since I am guessing the other two players would have called anyway with a pocket pair and AQ. I thought long and hard about this and basically read his all-in on the flop as a single heart. So I thought I"m ahead with top pair top kicker and he is a dog to hit the flush. Washington State Makes Online Poker A Felony Beginning June 7th playing online poker will be treated the same as engaging in child pornography onlne in washington state. The penalties include long prison sentances and fines. Does this strike anyone else as being incredibly supid ' Exactly how does onliine poker and internet child pornography equate to the same thing in the eyes of the state ' If you don't beleive me it was in todays Seattle Times, took me by complete surprise. The thing that doesn't make any sense was the severe penalites and the classificaion of the crime as being the same as internet child pornography. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

On The Bubble Short Stacked WIth 3-3's... Push ? Just wondering. It would have been my third final table in a row. I took second in a 20 table 20 , then won a ( 530 ) seat to next sundays tournament. Entered another 5 RBA for next sundays tournament and there are 9 payouts ( 8 seats and 110 ) there are 10 people left and I'm so C-0-L-D D-E-C-K-E-D !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't pick anything up to play.. it's so frustrating... i am patient - I read SamENole's short stack column. Was This A Good Fold? ( bluffed off QQ's ) The real problem is I had been moved and I didn't know much if anything about how this player played. There's only one overcard but what would he call pre-flop with ' I ask the question and he doesn't exactly answer with his call. Then the turn either makes it unlikely that he has the K -- or makes him the nut hand. Then the river makes things worse when the A falls. Then he value bets the river... quite possibly the kind of bet I would make with the nuts to try and get somebody to come over the top or at least call. I fold. Then he shows a bluff.. he had caught the 6 on the flop for a mid ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Attention New Players: Do not be this player Basically this kind of chat is reflexive in that essentially he is mindful of the fact that he had all his chips in as a 5 : 1 dog with one card to come ( i think that is fairly close ) . So he's pissed because he knows that you outplayed him. You got him to shove all his chips in on the turn with the loser unless he picked a one in six which he proceeded to do. So now he is mad at the action he setup with his play, He correctly encocuraged the action with his heavily favored hand. He then made a big mistake on the turn in my opinion, Other then that his play wasn't so bad. However his chat ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
