Baseball Discussion - April 9-15
CG victory for JV tonight against the Royals. Almost another repeat 9th inning performance as well. Just like against TB in his last start where he was cruising with a 1 hit shutout entering the 9th, only to implode and collect the L. Tonight he gave up a single run in the 1st and then cruised into the 9th with a 5 hitter. Almost imploded again. Gave up a single run and loaded the bases with Alex Gordon due up. Leyland left him in though. 4 of the last 5 pitches he threw were @ 100 MPH, 131 total pitches. Stud and workhorse.

I don't think they do that this year. They did that in previous seasons because the show is scheduled to be so many weeks long. Save one person, eliminate two the next to get everything back on track, week wise. Eliminating Jermaine due to his legal problems without being voted out, eliminated two in one week. Taking care of the need to do it next week. Just a hunch though. Don't know if Seacrest mentioned for sure or not if they were going to. My DVR cut off at the end.

What does my being a Tigers fan have to do with Santana already having had knee surgery on both his knees and in his 1st full season in the majors playing almost 50% of his games not at the C position. He's definitely talented, but his history says it would be wise for Cleveland to get him out from squatting behind home plate 150 games a year. I stand by the statement that he plays more 1B and DH for the greater percentage of his contract. So yeah, I'll take Avila, who is also a year younger. Would it be better if I said I'd take Wieters'

I guess thinking about it, yeah, most seasons it does merge at 12. But, this season, it just seemed forced. They just switched teams up last week. Seemed like they could almost see exactly where it was headed and stopped it. I'm sure Colton getting medivac'd out sped things along. But there was hardly any time for new tribes to get new shit going. Just seemed rushed and premature.

How did you meet your wife?
I was supervising at a Fortune 100 company going through some rough and turbulent times where the hours were 13 a day and the days were 6 a week. A fellow supervisor one department over died early in the spring when he rode his motorcycle smack into the middle of an illegally turning 18 wheeler. Now my 6 days turned into 7 as everyone was now taking turns picking up the shifts from dead guys area. Our company was taking their sweet time finding a replacement for him. To answer the many people that have inquired about the lady that I hit, she is doing just fine. I was pretty groggy obviously on thursday and friday, but come monday after numerous phone calls with both my work insurance and my auto insurance, she was my very next phone call. It wasn't that hard to find her number. Considering her age, 59, I assumed that she would have an old fashioned telephone that I could look her up in a telephone book. That was the same argument I tried using on her while walking the hospital hallways for so many afternoons/nights. She just doesn't buy my opinion that a belief or a non belief in a god/higher power has any bearing whatsoever in how I live my life, strive to be a good moral person, teach my children right from wrong, to accept responsibility for their own actions, to treat people with respect and dignity without judgment or whatnot. I briefly hint on my experience in the MLB Hot Stove thread when someone asked for details of a line I posted in that thread, but wanted to make this a separate discussion. Been stuck in a hospital bed with 4 shattered ribs and a fractured neck for the last 9 days, so I'm a little late to the party, as well as lucky as shit to be alive. But none the less, I thought this was a fitting picture for the thread. Best action photo by far I've ever taken during a game. Last official AB and hit of Jesus Montero in a New York Yankees uniform. Taken during game 4 of ALDS @ Comerica Park, Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees. Quick Question about cooking Pheasant
You braised a pheasant in a mushroom apple marsala cream sauce. Creamed your own corn with dill and red pepper. And you're not sure if the leftover drippings are edible. Anyone who is smart enough/skilled enough to make all the above described dish, is also smart enough/skilled enough to make a homemade gravy with the drippings or save the stock for a soup. You know damn well those drippings were edible. But, nice brag about having dinner.

Yet another trying to quit smoking thread.....
No shit. 2008 and 1st post. Nice. And representing Saginaw too. Chantix works real well. I had been smoking during the summer months since age 11 and full time since I was 16. Call me weak, a pussy or whatever you want, but cold turkey never worked for me. I'm sure a 10 year bad marriage didn't help either. When my insurance sent me a notice that they were paying 100% for Chantix, I snap called the doctor and got a prescription.
