The Opposite of Taking the Plunge
One other thing I forgot.. It's a fantastic ice breaker. Also, you definitely stand out in the hiring process. It's almost guaranteed they've never interviewed a professional poker player before and they will certainly remember you. As opposed to the same old ''mold of businessman'' they encounter on a daily basis

The Opposite of Taking the Plunge
I think ill be accepting two jobs actually.. one is a boring office drone. The other will be for "fun", filming local sports games for coaches to use for watching film in practice and stuff. I was actually pleasantly suprised with how well the interview process went in regards to explaining poker. When asked if I could self motivate and multi task I was able to explain my dual monitor set up and how after 20 tabling grinding this would be a breeze to multi task. Or, when asked if I could handle pressure.. LOL ... I think the important thing is that they know you actually treated it ...

The Opposite of Taking the Plunge
Well, after 6 years, 1 month and 6 days of being a professional poker and making this post : / I am likely going to accept a position at a ''real job''. I am retiring from poker I suppose. It was a wild ride that started with me quitting my job with far less $ in the bank than I needed. Getting very very very lucky to final table my first two WPT events I ever played (still a record I believe :) ) and not look back until..well until now. I just wanted to formally say thanks to anyone/everyone that gave me advice way back in the day and along the way. It truly has been a strange ...

What you remember about online poker
Favorite Online Poker Memory: Winning my first WSOP main event seat on Bodog way back in the day. I remember the little popup message that said "Congratulations you have finished in 1st place and won WSOP package" I left that table open on my computer til they closed it. I remember taking my roommate at the time to Denny's for Oreo shakes at like 3 am. This became a tradition, whenever I would have a 5 figure score/10k satty win we'd go get oreo shakes. Done this every time since even though now I'm married with a kid and live an hour away. Can't break tradition. He insists he likes getting ...

My Well: P0KERPR033
Man, you gave me so much trouble back in the day on UB. I would just give up if you were on my left. I figured I was more likely to min-cash if i wasnt there then go deep tryign to play back at you :) Our personal life story is very similar. I started way back when and am married (although I do have a child now) and continue the online grind. I consider myself the antithesis of the online balla. I would wait as long as you can on bringing a kid into the picture career wise. It seems like any free time I have I choose hanging out with him vs. playing. Just saying Have I ever beat you out of ...

NFL Combine
I agree, but I think theres ways around it. Maybe only fill the lower bowl. Maybe charge more so its a more "sophisticated'' fan that isnt consuming mass beverages and knows not to be beligerent etc. I'm sure the people whos job it is to actually think about these things have thought of all the ways and decided its best to NOT have the fans present. It would just be a cool experience

NFL Combine
I don't see the problem with fans yelling things. Wouldnt that be more like "on-the-job" training' Its not going to be silent when they play for real.

NFL Combine
Does anyone know if they allow fans to come to this' The seats look completely empty. I would imagine it would be a fun thing for the diehards to go to, and I'm sure make $ for the league. (cause you know..they need it) Watchign the combine on TV is like when I turn it to olympic curling-I think ok, i'll watch for a minute or two see what its all about. Then 3 hours later I come up for air and realize I havent moved.

Staying Positive....
I think the guy earlier in the thread talking about there is no such thing as a downswing meant to post this: All of my good streaks and all of my bad streaks of every length and depth have had one thing in common. They did not exist in your mind. They only existed in my mind. And this is true for everyone's winning and losing streaks. None of them actually exist. They are all mental fabrications, like past and future. Everything that ever happens happens in the present tense. But how can you have a "streak" in the present tense' You can't. And therefore, if you are in the present tense, ...

That was one of his arguments that the Bengals did it in the NFL. That the colts rested their guys etc. Clearly not comparable . Resting guys in a violent game to avoid injury vs ffb

Yeah I told them I was tempted to make it a league vote and see what happens. But just feel like a douche getting involved. It was a definitely line up change as he took out AP.

Fantasy Football ethics (semi-long)
So, heres the deal. I run a league amongst friends..Some are good friends with each other, some are acquaintances that just met at this years draft. It's not huge money, but im sure a few had to scrape up some loose $ to play. We have 12 teams with 6 playoff spots. 2 byes- top 3 get paid One guy is leading his division, but would need to beat another guy by 80 (they dont play this week) to get the bye. His opponent this week needs a win to get in as a 6 seed. He has Aaron Rodgers who gets injured. He then calls guy hes playing and convinces him to sit Adrian Peterson/ravens D/ Roy williams ...

Do you read Bluff magazine?
Unless you'd like to learn how to play Stud in the 70's from Roy Cooke, stick with Bluff. Maybe a few more puff pieces and "this is how balla I am" than strategy, but are you really reading cardplayer/bluff for dynamic strategy that ''noone'' else knows' That being said Assassinato's article in Bluff is usually the first one I read :)
