*NBA Conference Finals* Should be a pretty sick conference finals, where the winner will probably be a big favorite to take down the NBA title. Gotta give a slight edge to the Spurs based on championship experience and coaching - Brooks is a great coach and its not like its Pop vs Vinny Del Negro or anything, but Pop vs anybody is an advantage for the Spurs since he's one of the best NBA coaches of all time. Matchups should be interesting. Ibaka might be able to slow Duncan a bit with his athleticism, but I think Duncan is just way too much of a crafty vet in the post to not get the better of that matchup. I think ... **NBA Playoffs Conference semifinals** Heat are looking super beatable. I thought going into the year that their reserves/role players would be relatively decent but they're fuckin awful...If Mike Miller, Battier and James Jones can't hit 3s they have no purpose to the game of basketball at this point. Who would have thought that Bosh would be so important to them Posted in: Off Topic |

** Official NBA Playoffs round 1 thread** Feel bad for Bulls fans. Boozer used to be a stud. Now he's just brutal. And you're paying him 15 million per year to be that terrible. Would rather have a banged up Taj Gibson in there over Boozer any day. Posted in: Off Topic |

New Orleans Bounty Hunters (NFL) - Sean Payton Suspended All (or at least most) of the punishments that Goodell has handed down on the Saints organization are excessive in my opinion. I think there are a couple of reasons for this. First, Goodell wants to show everyone that he's got the biggest bat in the room, and he's doing that by swingin it around like a fuckin helicopter. He knows that he can do no wrong, the owners love him (aside from maybe Tom Benson), he just got a multi-year extension, he makes a ton of money, and he's the most powerful person in all of sports. He's running the most lucrative sports league in North America (and probably ... Posted in: Off Topic |

***Official 2012 NFL Draft thread*** I liked the Reiff pick myself purely from a value standpoint. Up until very recently, he was projected as a top 10 pick. I could be wrong here but he's a tackle and I beleive DeCastro is a guard, although obviously a beast. Definitely think Reiff could start at RT right away instead of Gosder Cherilus, who was Matt Millen's final first round pick if I'm not mistaken. They can basically groom him to be Backus' replacement in a couple years. Definitely also hoping that Janoris Jenkins falls to them in the second round or they move up to grab him IMO that would be a fantastic first couple ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Pluv's NCCA hoops Bracketology (final), unheralded freshmen and meanderings........ I doubt it ends up the way Lunardi projected. Seems absurd to have UNC as the 2 seed in UK's bracket. Since UK is obv the #1 overall squad, I highly doubt that UNC is the worst of all the 2 seeds, amd therefore shouldn't be in UK's region. Talentwise I think that UK and UNC are the 2 best teams in the nation, and I think its a pretty substantial drop-off to #3. Hopefully they end up on opposite sides of the bracket - would be a sick rematch for the title Posted in: Off Topic |

Juggalos This is pretty much spot on. I liked them briefly in gradeschool b/c they were vulgar and a couple of the songs on the Great Milenko CD were actually pretty funny. I live across the river from Detroit, where they're from, and apparently they are HUUUGE in the Detroit underground scene. That being said, I have no idea how they can get such big-time rap acts to open for them so often. I mean, most rappers (all good ones aside from eminem) are black, and to me, this doesn't seem like the kind of crowd that I'd feel safe at or want to perform in front of if I was black. Seems strange that they'd ... Posted in: Off Topic |

World Series Are there not 2 wild cards in each league this yr' My picks would be: AL East - Yanks - tons of older overpaid past-their-prime players like ARod & Jeter, but they're still serviceable....Tex is overpaid but solid for that ballpark, and Granderson and especially Cano are just absolute studs....huge upgrade to their pitching in the offseason adding Pineda as well AL Central - Tigers - homer pick but a pretty obvious one given how awful this division is, combined with the overall strengh of the pitching staff (including the best in the league in JV)....Miggy is probably the best hitter in the ... 2 Players to Center Your NBA Team Around Think it has to be LeBron/Howard. Can't go LBJ/Rose or LBJ/any other PG (both dominate the ball too much), LBJ/Durant (same position/type of player essentially) or Durant/Howard (dont think Durant is a good enough facilitator, even though he's a good a scorer as there is). However I do think that if selling tickets is the main goal, a LeBron/Blake Griffin combo or D-Rose/BG combo would be pretty decent as well. I'm pretty sure it was Shaq who said this, and it was probably the stupidest thing to come out of an NBA analyst's mouth ever. Howard>>>Bynum ainec. Shaq's just pissed that Howard ... Greg Shiano new Buccaneers Head Coach They were probably the most disappointing team this season behind Philly expectation-wise, don't see how a coach from a middle-of-the road D1 school (if that) can come in and make a big difference....is he gonna be able to command the respect of an NFL locker room' His big season, where Rutgers went 11-2 was probably helped along by having Ray Rice (who was/is an absolute beast) on the squad (and I think Kenny Britt as well). Personally I think they needed to make a bigger move - a proven NFL head coach. Good luck competing in this division the next 5 yrs. Posted in: Off Topic |

Jordan says Only Kobe deserves comparison This is pretty much spot on. Jordan demanded greatness from everybody, and he ruled with fear because everybody he played with lived in fear of letting Michael down. MJ did have a decent-good supporting cast, but comparing playing with Pippen to playing with Shaq in both of their primes is silly. Shaq was the biggest force in the NBA at a position that is far more difficult to find a franchise player at. Great small forwards are a dime-a-dozen in the NBA. Obv Pippen is still one of the greatest 50 players of all-time, but Shaq is def top 15, close to top 10. Consider that for 3 of Kobe's ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Couples: Tiger is going to play on the President's Cup team While he hasn't been playing well (actually playing like dogshit) lately, it's pretty easy for anybody who knows anything about golf to realize that he's most likely the best and most dominant golfer of all time, and that's a given for the last 12 years or so. Tiger's match play record overall (including his amateur career) is absolutely ridiculous - he hasn't been unreal in the Ryder Cup by any stretch but if your Fred Couples, how do you not throw him on the team' Knowing that someone like Freddy believes in him will probably be a huge boost of confidence for Tiger, and hopefully he can ... JJ facing UTG Shove If the guy is the tbl chipleader with 22bbs, chances are its an $11 turbo.....often the chipleader/bigstack at the table will shove a wide range in turbos (at least from my experiences)....from ep this is most likely a smaller pocket pair or a decent ace/KQ type of hand....call all day without hesitation Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Top/top 6-handed in a big pot. Shoving turns your hand (which is fairly strong) into a bluff since you're only likely to get called by better hands (at least by competent players) in a cash game since everyone's fairly deep....also not generally a great idea to get over 100 bbs in on the flop with top pair - you're 6 handed so everyone's range is going to widen a decent amount, but the way the action went they're probably putting you on an overpair or big draw and are only calling with 2pair and sets.....one more thing - 6handed, top-top is a strong hand....geneally it's probably better to make continuation bets that are ... always a fold holding KQ/KJ on SB,BB? If players know that you will fold KQ or KJ blind vs blind, they'd be stupid not to shove vs u everytime....to be honest its pretty tough to win a tourney without winning a couple KQ/KJ vs A-rag type hands or vice versa - while you're behind its basically a flip. You don't always need to call with 20bbs, but if you have 15 or less and an aggressive small blind shoves into you and its evident that they're trying to bully you, I'm gonna be calling more often than not and not expecting to be in too bad of shape....you have to put them on a wider range than A-rag as well....they can have small ... One of my leaks? You have roughly 13-14 bbs so I would advise folding ATo in this spot, mainly because you are UTG and your shove has to pass through the remainder of the players, which probably makes it -EV overall. Obviously, raise/folding is horrendous here and I can't see you being in great shape raise/calling. If you're in later position with the same hand, I definitely like a shove. Help! Why can't i beat live 1/2? IMO just try to stay patient early....the 1/2 game i play at is a complete joke - if you play for long enough you're gonna make a ton of money....agree with 3-betting in position with decent holdings since people are generally going to give u more credit than u deserve when u c-bet....its usually easy to tell when people have it, since most of the players live are complete dolts without any creativity in the lines they take....the strategy that works best for me is to play tightish early and once i'm up a couple hundo, open it up a bit....also i should say that while there is a good argument ... 99 in the BB with 9BBs..... Easy shove....u have under 20 bbs, a fairly premium hand, and passive action in front of you....9/10 you'll take it down with a shove and the other time you'll get called and be either way ahead or flipping ....like mcandrews and kevmode said, these are really easy spots to pick up chips that u have to take advantage of to get deep in mtts Posted in: Poker Discussion |
