First orbit of $11 deep stack. Do I call this shove?
Fold. Why bother. Deeps stacks, plenty of time to play. Don't get it in on speculation here. You may be ahead but even if so by slim margin if he has overs and flush draw. Silly play by him but don't get caught up in it. Much better spots later. Though take note of this guy and see what he does it with later. It may turn into snap call later once you get a read on him.

Standard or just fold to a 4bet?
First thing. You need to already have plan in place before you 3 bet the aggro player. If you don't wanna call this shove then you shouldn't 3bet him here b/c if you don't call you just turned your hand into bluff. May as well had 7,2. You have position with decent hand so you could also flat and play in pos if you don't want to 3bet/call. As played, you should call. Sucks that he may have woke up with something here, but this is his 3rd time in row. If you don't take stand here, you just gonna have more problems with this guy too b/c he will think u are easy mark he can push around.

Awkward Stack Sizes...What is the best play?
Seems like 3 bet/call makes most sense to me. He can have AJ-AK, KQ, and most pairs here methinks. Seems like your 10's ahead of overall range. Sux when he wakes up with JJ-AA, but oh well. Certainly don't think you can open fold and flatting allows people behind to get cute.

Final table - snap jam right or?
The biggest factor in this is that you said it's a turbo. Your 20 BB stack will turn to 15 bb's and then to 10 in blink of an eye. Couple shorties double and next thing you know you are middle or low stack. Always gotta roll with that AK despite the shorties. Downswing clouds decisions too which sucks. Good luck

Staying Positive....
One thing that may help is perspective. Take a step back and look at all your success. When you are in a downswing it's so easy to forget that you know how to win. Go back and look over your results and smile at some of those great scores you have had. Think back to how you felt when you first took up the game and the excitement of logging in and picking a donkament to play in. Heck, I don't know if you started in the micro limits, but think back to the time before you were a poker god. Remember that excitement that the mere thought of the game brought' A last word on perspective ...

Advice. Winning pots without showdowns?
I was reading another thread that asks how the top players win big field tourneys and the subject of winning pots without showdown came up. In theory I understand this well, but in practice I am sure I am missing my share of spots to pick up pots without showdowns. Any advice you can provide on how you improved this skill' On a similar subject, do you feel or have you found it particularly necessary to make 1 or 2 big bluffs to pick up big pots without showdown'

Tips for closing out MTT's
I would like to see if I can get a dialogue going about tips for closing out more tournaments. Any words of wisdom you guys have for finishing them out once making the final table' I am increasingly frustrated with the amount of 5-9's I am getting once I get there. I feel very confident in my ability to get there but not as confident once it comes to closing them out. Can you think of any specific tweaks you made to your game that made a big difference in your closing ratio' Thanks!

Re:Self-exclusion FTW
A prolonged break can do wonders. When you come back your head is clear of some of the fog from playing all the time. Self excluded myself for a month, decided I still didn't care to play and did it another month. Came back and had my best 30 days of online poker. Played with a ton of confidence, reads were on and brushed bad beats off easily. Too bad that time has come and gone :) From time to time, I will exclude myself for a week at at time just to get away. Enjoy the time off. Hope you have the run goods upon your return. Tube1

Re:learning an instrument as an adult
I had always wanted to learn guitar but never explored it till after I got out of college. I think the only requisite is desire. If you want it bad enough, you will put the time in to learn. The first 3-6 months are pretty awful then it gets fun. Here is the kicker. Once you become proficient at it, you will kick yourself for not learning back in school to take advantage of all the fringe benefits, eg chicks :) Good luck on your musical journey!

Re:standard iso shove?
You are folding b/c of the flatter. The shover from the bb no big deal b/c of stack sizes but guy behind you puts you in terrible spot and 6's not a good hand to reshove with. If you have less chips then maybe reshoe okay but not with those stack sizes. easy fold.

Re:Fold AK here?
You have about 50 bb's so i guess your options are somewhat open. This question really depends on your style of play. If you feel okay with 50bb's then I guess fold okay. On the other hand, if you like to have a bigger stack and play table boss, easy ship. Me personally, at 25/50 I am eagerly jamming my AK b/c tourney is very early still and I would like to have more future maneuverability.

Re:Cheap Set on flop - Check or Bet??
Flop texture obv important, but maybe just as important is stage of tourney. If it is limped pot at 10/20 then bet to build that pot up. If you ck and they ck, it's gonna be pretty hard to build a pot on turn since pot size bet only gonna be like 60-100 chips. If mid or late then ck raise not bad, but early I prefer to just bet. If they have nothing you may not make money anyway. Just bet and build that pot. Re 2nd post. If you have pair aces and A flops board texture plays here. Most times bet but say board comes A, 5, 9 diff suits, you have a judgement call. The only hand you have to ...

Re:Help playing AQo... because I obviously don't have a clue (learn from my bad play)
Right on. You can decide how big or small a pot you play b/c the raise should at the least get you position, which is the most important factor in hand. You definitely want to get rid of the button player and blinds.

Re:Can't push through in MTT's. Final table 101?
Play 90 and 180 mans. Ship smaller ones and gain confidence for larger fields. These smaller tourneys give you plenty of practice with all the stages of MTT.

Re:embarrassing question that I should know the answer to by now
I think the biggest consideration is how the hand affects you afterward as well. You say its the money bubble. You are in no danger of busting if you dont' win the all in, even if the bb comes in. Heck, you still have 30bbs if the bb does come in too. Now, if you win this pot, you have a very very nice stack with 100 peeps to go. Lastly, Q,J plays fairly well against a wide range of hands. If you don't play this hand you still are a long way from any real money anyway, so this might be a nice spot to gamble where the positives may outweigh the negatives. Then again, maybe your 50 ...

Re:I just can't close a tournament to save a penguin....
Play some 90 and 180 mans. These give you more opportunities to make final tables and subsequently more chances to ship. Winning a few of these may give you the confidence/experience to ship something with more people.

Most powerful?
Forget what the odds say. A,J and K,Q are the most powerful starting hands in online poker. I thought these hands were the supposed trap hands through domination' Yeah right... AJ obv beats all pairs, but is even more powerful all in pre vs A,K and A,Q. KQ also beats all pairs, crushes AK and A,Q and also cracks rockets on the regular. I give the slight edge to K,Q

Re:Tag player looking to improve
A couple of suggestions... 1) Pick up a copy of the book "Poker Tournament Formula" by Arnold Snyder. Def a good book to get you thinking more aggro. 2) Play smaller fields tournaments. 180mans are a good start. 3) Position, Position, Position. Raise a late pos limper when you have pos and fire flop when he cks. Sometimes you will have to give up, but many times you will win this pot. When you see how often position wins out, you will be noticing that you could have had aces or 7,2 and still won the hand. Then start noticing how many times pots you win have little relevance to ...

Re:Shove or Fold?
No, thanks for the well thought out reply. Looking at it again, I'm sure I'm supposed to shove. As for the raiser, I left out the fact that he hadn't done anything out of line from what I had seen and hadn't been super active. This is what really made me decide to fold it, but looking back I don't think I have much choice. I really hate these spots, and yes I should have not let myself get this short. Oh well, next time.

Shove or Fold?
This is a spot I find myself in a bit and am never sure what is the right move. Also, if you shove here, how would you play small pocket pairs, say up to 6's' It seems whenever I shove in this spot I am completely dominated. Is waiting and open shoving better or worse' I went out shortly after this hand open shoving and then thought about this hand and was wondering if I should have made my move here. This exact situation comes up for me a bunch either with the mid A or weak pair and I always question myself regardless of which play I make. Thoughts' PokerStars Game #20237253747: ...

Re:call the shove or fold this
As played, snap call. Once you raise 1/5 of your stack, you need to call this. The other reason is that blind are going to go up to 50/100 soon and you will have 10bbs if you fold...no good. Lastly, this a $1 tourney so many times the play is erratic at best. As you see they guy is limp reraising all in with A,J which is pretty terrible in and of itself. Easy call, too bad you lost the flip.

Re:180 turbo: AJ on button facing AIPF
I prob iso shove all in. It's a turbo and you should look to chip up. Seat 1's range you are good against since he is utg and short stack...Seat 4 is a problem but she only has a few bb's so may be decent spot to gamble...if you beat seat 1 and lose to seat 4 you almost come out of it unscathed. I think calling or folding are both reasonable given your/their stack, but I would shove it.

Re:Tough spot, I have no idea what to do. Thoughts?
Icky spot, but if you ck you are going to have to fold the hand to betting or ck raise all in with no fold eq. Bodog blind structure very fast and it looks like you are utg which makes the blinds go through you next hand. Unless you are just going to ck fold and relinquish the hand, which I don't really like, I would probably pot stick myself by leading out half my stack which is pretty much 2/3 pot and pray no no one has A...if they do then pray your nut flush draw gets there If it wasn't bodog and you weren't going to be in bb next hand then maybe a diff course of action. My ...
