I DO love these videos. Obviously the creators are pro-Hayek rather than Keynes but they are actually really really good and give a good idea about the two philosophies. They've been posted before but goddam I wish there were many more like this. (Obviously with some pro-Keynes slanted ones thrown in.)

Humor me. Where did I go wrong' The CBO said Obamacare would save money, not me. I think they've since revised it to say that it would add between $250-$300 billion total over the next 10 years' Let's double it and assume that Obamacare adds $500 billion total to the deficit over the next 10 years. Given that extremely fair concession, how does Obama's deficit spending compare to Bush's' Hint: Extremely fucking well.

More bullshit. You guys are either deliberately ignorant or just lying about this stuff. Reasons for the deficit: From Bush two wars. Bush tax cuts Bush's Prescription Drug Plan, Medicare Part D (passed by Republicans, not Democrats) TARP From Obama Recovery act More tax cuts The Recovery Act is spent. It is done. It is no longer contributing to the deficit. However, Bush's two wars, Medicare Part D (a truly terrible plan) is still active, and so are his tax cuts. Saying that Obama has been the one to contribute most to the deficit is just plain verifiably false.

This really is a rewrite of history. If the president hadn't accepted the deal, taxes would have gone up for ALL Americans, including middle class Americans, which everyone agrees would be terrible during high unemployment. The GOP also tied extension of unemployment benefits to getting a deal done. If Obama had walked away from a deal like you suggest he could have easily done, things would have been much worse. And FTR, there was a vote on extending the BTC for ONLY the middle class and only allowing the cuts to expire for those making over $250,000. It passed the (then-) Dem House and ...

TBH, I have no idea what the theory is behind a 21-year max prison term. It sounds crazy to me, and I am pretty liberal in terms of not believing in the death penalty, etc. (Not sure if anyone in OT knew I was a liberal, but yeah, I kind of am.) I find it crazy that no one in Norway is on board with the concept that some people (perhaps even rarely) are just beyond redemption and can never be allowed to re-enter free society. Oh well. They probably think I'm a barbarian.

This is absolutely true, Slugger. It is totally as politically motivated as anything else. If you read the demands of al Qaeda or other Islamic terrorist organizations, they are also politically motivated. Religion serves as an excuse and a catalyst for their hatred. I don't really believe in lumping all religious people together, though. Given the choice, and everything else being equal, I'd still choose to hang out with Christians over Muslims, without thinking twice. I just don't think the two religions are as far apart as Christians like to believe or tell us, over and over and over again. Both have extremists who make the other 9x% look bad.
