Re(1): I'm moving US to UK, questions help please.
You'll need power converters rather than adapters to protect your systems. Adapters aren't good enough, your systems will fry. Buy the best quality power converters you can afford. If you want to see what would happen, find some really cheap piece of electronics from the US, plug it in via an adapter in the UK, and watch it fry. Not pleasant. Otherwise, have fun, don't be shocked by the prices, although you will. I moved the other way 10 years ago.

Re(1): Just looking for a hand history replayer
I like popopop, its a weird name, but it works really well, across a lot of sites. It's free if you don't want to make a donation to the developer. It needs Java Virtual Machine, but also has links to download that as well. I recommend it.

Even if it did say pokerstars on it, just tell them you won it at a live tourney, ie the PCA in the bahamas run by pokerstars.

Re(1): My thoughts on PokerStars' new "Responsible Gaming" option
Agree with one exception. I don't like the word "gaming" too similar to gambling. They need to differentiate poker as a primarily skill game v gambling.

Re(1): Obv online business opportunity?
Hey Seal.. nice thought. I'm going to put my head on the block again, but I'm suspecting that Stars, and maybe other sites, are going to stop cash transfers between users. Have you noticed all the system restarts lately. There are minor code changes associated with each of them, on their server. Things I've noticed this week. You can't change your address to another country, last week you could. That's designed to stop people like me that have bank accounts in a couple of different countries changing the address to be able to use different funding/withdrawl methods. I think its all aimed ...

^^^^^^ regarding this. My point was that the arena in which he makes his profits will be signficantly disturbed if US residents are not allowed to play online. Stu has to consider can he still make the same profits with less players online, prob about 60-65% less.

Re(1): Should I turn pro?
Stu, I'm about your age, 42.. Some good sage advice above, but I'm going to prompt you to think a little further down the line. What do you expect to be doing in 5 or 10 years, when do you plan to retire. Do you figure you can take the grind of poker at age 45, 55, 65 ' and can you make enough say, in the next 10 years to retire comfortably and make a little extra playing poker. Also consider the landscape for poker online is uncertain, we just don't know how long this gig will last. $100k is not a bad package, though dubai has its other challenges. You might want to try balance the two in ...

Re(1): Poker income & mortgage approval????
Mortgage lender will want to ensure that your other income is legal, and declared tax wise. They have a duty to ensure this income is not from illegal activities, money laundering or selling illegal drugs. You may have to have a frank discussion with them about your ability to derrive this other income over a long period of time. You can easily do that by showing you declared this other income on Tax Returns for the last several years. I hope you didn't declare other income for Mortgage purposes that you don't intend to declare for tax purposes. Good luck, be honest and truthful, provide ...

Won the 30k guaranteed tuesday night on FT beating bel0w hu playing as youngsupremacy. Won the 109r last night on stars playing as Jeff710 beating shaniac hu. He's flying out to the PCA as I write this, or he'd be on UB chasing down the tripple crown. Good luck, and great play. Young man with a future, look him up in the Bahamas. OhToBe

Re(1): Give CardRunners your ideas for the new year
Another idea from UselessGit, following on from my "difficult hands" suggestion. I'd be interested to see Taylor and some of the other cardrunners players playing each other, heads up for cash, on say Full tilt. Each of the players starts with the same stack, and plays 50 or 100 hands. Both players record the game, and so we can see the video from both sides of the story. Part of the game would be that anyone folding a hand has to show their cards, so that the person watching the other video can see what was folded. I know this would cost you a little in Rake..doesn't have to be high ...

PCA Bahamas wishes from OhToBe.
To all of you travelling to the PCA in the Bahamas. May your travels be safe and on schedule. May the sun shine and the pool be heated. May your first and last hands be pocket rockets. And above all, may you all be winners. Take it down. I'll look forward to following your progress. Regards, Wannabe OhToBe.

Re(1): Give CardRunners your ideas for the new year
How about a section called "Difficult hands".... ones that you won, and lost, with detailed explanation of thought process. would be interesting to see hands leading up to the difficult hand as well, to get some idea of situation, opponents play etc etc. I don't need to know how to play JJ on a J44 flop, per Bax free video, I want to know how to play tough spots and thought process. I might join then. Guy / OhtoBe

Re(1): Basically got robbed- Questions
Two Suggestions. If your pc is secure from roomates, friends, then just stay logged onto pokerstars forever. Don't shutdown your PC, then nobody else can logon to it when you are logged on. Make sure you have power-on, disk and screen passwords that NOBODY else knows. Secondly, if you should use security software like "Check Point Integrity". This essentially makes your pc secure with multiple levels of security, up to and including making your PC invisible to the whole hacker world, apart from to applications that you personally, manually, certify you want to access the internet. If you ...

Re(1): Dealing with losses -- chasing mentality.
I have the same problem. It's exacerbated when I check my bankroll after every game I play. My only way out of it I think is to force myself to only check my bankroll once per week or so, that way the ups and downs of each game will even out and I should see generally an increasing trend. Whether I can do it or not, is another matter.

Re(2): Is this a tough call, or easy laydown
Well, that was my initial thinking, but given he was agressive all through, two thoughts. Why would he not reraise me preflop or on the flop if he has high cards. If he is sure he has me beat, doesnt he want to value bet me to get more from me on the river, rather than push all in. It was the push that did it for me, I figured he had two spades, and one of them was not the king, or he would have value bet me on the river. i called, he showed two low spades.
