Scammed by William Givens - imahustla1 I think vouching for someone does generally indicate a financial obligation, but many people don't realize it. I accidentally said I would vouch for someone in a staking thread one time when the person wanted a reference from me and got a few people correcting me and saying that vouching actually meant I would be responsible for the $$ if anything happened. Obviously I didn't know that/a lot of people don't know that but it seems to be accepted that there's a clear difference between just a reference and actually vouching for someone. There are probably situations where someone might want ... Posted in: Poker Community |

quitting poker -> micro frustration There's nothing wrong with coaching itself but getting coaching for like $100+/hour for micro-stakes is burning money. It's like getting a 200NL coach when all you need is a 10NL coach. Firstly you end up paying way too much, secondly the coach is probably not going to be as in tune with the games you're playing as someone who's been beating those stakes recently (unless they moved up really fast). The problem is that with MTTs there's not all that many coaches for lowstakes as compared to cash/SNGs. This kinda sucks for people at a certain stage in developing their game, but I think at ... quitting poker -> micro frustration I wouldn't invest in coaching yet, it's far too expensive relative to your stakes. There are much more cost efficient ways of studying at this point. I think that the best thing you can do is to discipline yourself and put in decent volume at a specific game. I can assure you that you haven't played enough games of a specific type yet in order to really conclude anything about how you're doing yet. Stick to SNGs and play at least 500 of 1 type of SNG at 1 stake and re-evaluate later. Obviously keep trying to improve but the discipline to stick to 1 game long enough for some of the variance to ... Posted in: Poker Community |

wsop main hand Meh, I'd probs call the younger guy. I suppose some people can justify folding but I'd like to think that if my table's soft enough that I'm considering passing up +EV spots, I should also be significantly +EV with a 24BB stack still, and furthermore I should be able to rape even more with the extra chips when I win the AIPF. The argument that you lose some future equity when we lose the hand is only relevant to certain players. If someone is going to play a lot better with 50-60BB than 30-40BB for whatever reason, it might be more of a reason to make the call. If you play a great 30-40BB ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

wsop main hand I think we can pretty safely discount some of the top of his range here though. Even without any solid reads I think it's probably a mistake to give him all combo's of AK/JJ+ at least. That being said I def fold here vs. a middle-aged player live in the ME without a solid read for most of the reasons already covered. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

ft of the womens event.......a guy? Not trying to single you out since a lot of other people ITT have said the same sort of thing, but this is a very narrow-minded view of what equality is. Equality is most definitely not just treating a group that has been historically (and even still today) marginalized the same as everyone else. That might be what equality would look like if history was completely erased and we started from scratch. In practice equality is rarely achieved by just all of a sudden treating everyone the exact same. Equality isn't treating a group as inferiors for years, decades, even centuries, and then one day ... To Pokerstars/FullTilt: Time to shift to a Euro-centric schedule Do you guys think warm up will become the new million' Last sunday I think mill ball still got a bigger prizepool, but maybe that's just cuz people are still on the old schedule, or maybe the timing is optimal. To Pokerstars/FullTilt: Time to shift to a Euro-centric schedule MMM speaking some truth. I think that rather than changing a bunch of tournaments, they should add some more big tournaments to fill out the earlier schedule for europeans or something. Why eliminate/move already existing tournaments that are already doing quite fine' Probs agree on changing scoop times though. Posted in: Poker Sites |

BvB fold broadway on river? Fold river and it looks fine. He's never bluffing here, he's sooometimes shoving worse, but I think his line is more often a boat since with T9 or Jx he's gonna flat the raise a decent amount still. Also I think that his turn check combined with river 3-bet is more indicative of the nuts than a dry Jx, like he's more likely to slowplay a boat of some sort on the turn than just trips, and he's more likely to shove a boat on the river than just trips, so I think we can discount it enough. Yea he's gonna have AJ some % of the time but I think most of his range is boats. Also I think your river ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Spot from last night's FTP 150k I'd just muck. Reasons: 1) Your image is decent, there's no dynamic to indicate he's gonna be pulling a move, and it just seems like an awful spot for him to be light unless there's something else going on. 2) He's in the BB and you min-raise so I feel like he's going to peel with a ton of his range that might otherwise 3-bet if he was in a different position. 3) Even if 4-betting is warranted, I don't think this is a hand you need to be playing back with. This is likely the bottom of your range here, or at least the worst ace you open under the gun. I don't think this spot is one that you ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

$163fo KK riverspot We only have 1 pot behind and this card kind of improves his range/isn't a scare card, and on this board I imagine his range is weighted towards value hands more than pure floats, so I think jamming > all. If the texture was less coordinated such that he could have more air or we had some reads I think a case could be made for betting smaller, but it kind of sucks to bet Posted in: Poker Discussion |

99 in 100r Apestyles basically said what I was doing to say. I think we underestimate the amount of equity lost when 22 gets counterfeited or something and 77 doesn't. Depending on the villains exact range of pairs in his value range, it changes some things significantly. The more pairs in his range the bigger the gap between 99, to 77, to 22 (like ape said if his value range has 88+). If his value range of pairs was as tight as TT+ the difference between 99 and 55 is effectively nothing and shoving one but not the other makes absolutely no sense. So yea it's a little nit-picky but I don't think this is ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

River spot with aces vs Stammdog with aces in stars 1k But there's a big difference between "it is absolutely -EV to flat with 33 or 44 in this spot" and "nobody who's winning at high stakes poker calls with 33 or 44 there". Posted in: Poker Discussion |

99 in 100r If you know slammedfire at all then yes, this is a pretty clear jam (as well as 88, 77, 66... it gets closer below that mayyybe but I imagine any pair if fine). Without knowing anything about slammedfire I think TT+ is probably more like it. But yea, he'll definitely be looser than most people in this spot, especially if SCTrojans has been opening a lot. I don't quite agree that 22=99 here as dave said though. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems This is just straight up wrong. Say hypothetically JDPC realized he was wrong and gave james his 12k that should have never been on his makeup, now james has his money he's owed and his makeup is 8k. Now james wants to leave. He owes JDPC 8k. He's not 'taking a 2k loss from what he was owed', he's no longer owed anything once he has his 12k, so he's taking NO loss and JDPC is taking an 8k loss. Like he's just making up a solution that benefits him using terrible math, just give JDPC the other 6k and stop being scum. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems Depending on the bankroll you have on your own, it could be quicker to make 33k being staked to play anything, than it would be to make 9k playing only lowstakes. It doesn't matter how good of a player you are if you only have a $500 life roll (not saying he did, just using that as an example, you need money to make money). Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Bob2Bob Tilt / Bob2Bob2 Stars: Backing and repayment problems This doesn't make much sense. If the initial staking deal was done and James was on his own, how come jdpc bought his makeup off the previous backer' If there was makeup to sell/buy, he clearly wasn't done with the other deal. The only logical scenarios are either: a) He WAS done with the initial deal, in which case his makeup was 0, and he could just start getting backed without makeup. b) He WASN'T done with the initial deal, in which case his makeup was 33k, and that makeup gets transferred to the new backer. Even if he somehow made it up in his head that his makeup was only the ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Sun Million hand (what would you do?) C-bet flop def, I don't reeeally think you can have a read that would make me not c-bet here. It's just such a nut flop to c-bet, esp when you have some back doors that you can check back OTT and hit if you get called. Also fold turn is by far better than call. Wtf are we doing chasing the 2nd nuts when we're clearly behind and eeeasily drawing dead. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
