Re:Poker Players and the Mind
OK well this is all well and good, so how are some SPECIFIC examples or techniques of how people "think positively" and "stay focused" Is the glass always half-full for them, how did they come around to have that mindset' Everyone acts like it's super simple to remain positive after dropping several buy-ins "awesome, 8th bad beat/cooler of the day, I only have to play twice as hard just to get back to even! and even then if I play well, I might continue to run bad anyway! POSITIVE POWER!" How does one stay positive after a losing week' a losing month' or ...

how to restore one's love for the game? and moving on after poker?
Anyways, after watching my bankroll suffer through a massive downswing over the past 4 months (from 80K to 40K) and feeling my psyche burn out gradually from all the bad beats, misplays and blown opportunities, I've made a decision over the last few weeks that poker might not be for me. I am considering putting poker aside, salvaging the winnings I have left, and most likely map out a return to the workforce after trying out poker as a career. Anyway I'll reward myself tomorrow with one more MTT Sunday as a sort of "last hurrah" and take a good long break from the game ...

Re:Interesting hand, flopped quads in the SB. What would your line be?
I might be alone in this but I like the idea of check-raising to 1750 about right there on the flop, most aggro players won't give you credit for a 4. then if you check the turn this really disguises your hand and: -gives your opponents a chance to make a boat with their overpair -hit a big pair they can stack off on -bluff you back

Re:Flop spot vs Jordan Kickz
how do you figure he doesn't bet JJ-QQ here to protect his hand you could easily have AK and how you react after his bet will define your hand very well, whether you call or check-raise will pretty much turn your hand faceup EDIT: just read the part about check-folding...this is a level you sicko, isn't it

Re:hand in ftops
eh the merits of check/calling are ok i guess, but by checking the river you allow him to control the action, he could easily throw in a huge 9K bet on the river and us having no idea whether he's spazzing or not that being said, I like the idea of betting 4-5K on the river to grab value from because most players will definitely call with lone trips but will not re-raise unless he's got you absolutely crushed, albeit you can safely fold with a workable stack if he does

Re:From broke to rich via Wccop? Stories anyone?
it's not WCOOP, but the same principle of getting in for cheap and winning big applies i got in the bodog 100K through playing the T$22 satellites and abusing .10/.25 PLO cash, luckboxed a few all-ins for my tournament life (A7>AQ, AJ>AQ, 77-JJ I think), got to the final table and miraculously outplayed everybody 6-handed to TID, this was like 2 years ago

Re:Girlfriends + Poker
Heh I am super jealous of you guys, you only need to play three-four days a week to make the money Also, after sifting through this huge paragraph, I really wish this topic was started sooner and I could've read this advice as well. Maybe it would've given me some insights on how to salvage what was a great relationship between me and my ex of about a month =( anyway, great post++ I don't know about PiKapp but I definitely learned something!

Re:Girlfriends + Poker
well everyone seems to have their head in the clouds, i dunno but my passion for poker may have driven my girl away because of those long nights i would play and barely give her any attention, i was just so driven to make money and succeed that I couldn't give her the attention she deserved while we lived together =/ Anyway, I just wanted to say that a great girlfriend/wife will be huge in providing the emotional support that makes the life of a professional poker player a little less stressful to bear. Just don't make the mistakes like I did and take her for granted is the best ...

is poker tracking software a must?
whenever I read a strategy book or read posts on strategy here, it seems like most people seem to have a good idea of whether the table is "passive" or "aggressive" or who's being more aggressive than usual, etc. Now obviously keeping track of this is made easier through notes or really solid observation, but honestly I don't see how some folks seem to have everyone's style pegged to a T while playing 8 or more tables without some sort of help along the way. This makes me wonder whether things like poker tracking software are vital to success in today's ...

Re:Poll: Whats your play?
you don't need to because the check/check on the turn polarizes his holdings, at his point he either has a huge hand (trips or a slowplayed set) or nothing/second pair turning itself into a bluff and your hand is underrepresented, making it a good call

a few ?'s for Jennifear (any professional even) about big tourney wins, how much to cash out
() I've been using jennifear's cashout system for a bit now (I personally like it a lot) , and I was just wondering exactly how much she or any professional would recommend cashing out when they win a big score (four figures to six figures). As of now, I allow myself a "bonus" every time I make an FT or better, taking 8% of any FT table finish and 20% if I hit top three, just to give myself that extra incentive to go farther. Is this harmful to my bankroll overall, is it too little, or should I not cash out at all and cash out purely based on my volume' Also, how do ...

Has anyone else actually taken his training and have an objective opinion on it' coz it seems like we're either blasting or defending his cred based on a program that all of us (except for his students) have never personally seen. Speaking of, does anyone have any idea on how many students are trained there and don't improve their game' is there anyone out there who had taken the training and give a review about it' Are daisy/maven/dyzalot/subiime/pikappraider and a few others the only students, or were there a ton of people who fell by the wayside and these guys just happened to be ...

random thoughts....like what is the largest a prizepool has exceeded its guarantee by?
looking at it, I have no idea why FTP even calls the $163 at 3:00 a 50K. Seriously, that tournament smashes the guarantee EVERY Sunday. As of now the prizepool is up to 200K. I don't know about yall but I have never seen any tournament quadruple its guarantee. If you have, please feel free to discuss also, i hate having medium pairs vs preflop raisers in EP and a dry flop facing a C-bet. You feel like a wimp if you fold. Every time you re-raise, he can still rep a big hand with a 3-bet and make you fold like a wimp. If you check-call, you're just gonna fold on the turn and river like ...

Re:Fulltilts 215 Saturday Omaha/Petition
why do you like 6-max as opposed to full ring anyway, i'd just like to know why some people feel this way IMO I tend to like full ring because I can make easier decisions, as opposed to guessing whether my middle set is up against top set or spazzing with top 2p, bottom set or a combo draw and pretty much flipping every hand when facing a flop RR. It's also easier for weaker, fishier players to make 2nd-best hands like bottom set/middle set that will pay your stronger hands off

Re:I owe you guys this one
wow this is actually quite amazing, refreshing to see so many people rally around a micro-stakes player mired in a slump anyway, I dunno how many of the posts are sarcasm but it really is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual negativity on these forums =x but anyway I'll throw in my lot, micro-stakes are definitely a massive roller coaster for anyone who's started there so good luck man! (now all we need are some people in the top 30 railing/posting to take this post to the halls of immortality)
