Re:DenPhil Expect to see a lot of back peddling statements like this now. "oh last year he was a donkey, but he became 9995235239 times better since then" Edit: Oh and also a lot of statements claiming that he is still a donkey, but just super lucky two years a row in massive fields. Re:Humberto Brenes == Ass Clown This is not a slowroll. AA on a KQ4 board is not the nuts. For all Humberto knew his opponent could have had KQ for two pair. Humberto may be a douche, but this is definitely not a slow roll. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Hellmuth's Grand Entrance Lets be honest. Phil is trying to entertain people and bring attention to himself. He knows how to market himself and ensure he stays in the spotlight. Publicity is all he cares about and it's working well for him. Even bad publicity is good publicity. I mean, just look at this thread for instance. You can say what you want about Phil, but he has played poker long enough to know that the general public isn't interested in watching Ivey, Antonious, or pasty white internet geeks sitting there like statues. It's not fun to watch. Yes, serious poker players want to see every hand ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:PStars Sunday Million, right play? right play' ummm no. This is horrible. If you are going to make plays based on your image at least pick a hand that plays well against the limpers range. 82o is complete trash and doesn't play well against anything. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:Do you make the hero call on river here? (results will be posted after responses) Thanks for the responses guys! I elected to fold this hand after using all the time I had. He then told me in chat that he had KJ of hearts... who knows if he was telling the truth or not. Since he didn't actually show his hand I assume it was probably a value shove. I just wanted to know what most others would do. I really appreciate your responses :) Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Do you make the hero call on river here? (results will be posted after responses) $50NL cash game. This is literally my first hand playing at this table on cake. On river I think his hand is polarized. Either huge hand or a stone cold bluff on missed flush draw. I honestly can't see him checking the turn with a set here. I figure he rivered a set of 8s or he is bluffing. Do you make the call with no reads other than how he played this hand' Hand#1874011561000322 - Pebble Beach (6-Max) 11561 -- $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold'em -- 2009/05/23 - 09:54:16 Seat 1: (CHI*** ($35.05 in chips) DEALER Seat 2: Rake*** ($50.25 in chips) Seat 3: wall*** ($50 in chips) Seat 4: ... Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! Yea I mean obv you are hoping for only 1 or 2 callers to your pre flop raise when you are holding AK or AQ, but whether you like or not you will be taking it 5 or 6 ways sometimes and there is nothing you can do about that. Raising 5x or 6x isn't stopping them either. I don't know about you, but I would rather only have to risk 60 to try to build a pot and have to check/fold a bad flop versus having made it 100 while having still failed to limit the field. Now I have given up 40 extra chips I didn't need to. I just really don't see what making it 5x or 6x accomplishes that ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! 8ROM I understand what you are saying in terms of always having to play multi-way flops in the early levels of a $4.40 - 180, but you have to understand that you are adjusting incorrectly by limping big hands like AK and AQ. If everyone is calling your 60 chip raises at 10/20 with ATC from any position then they will still call you if you make it 100 to go and you will STILL have to play a multi way flop. This doesn't mean you should limp with AK or AQ, you still want to raise to try to build a pot since you are likely to be holding the best hand pre flop. You still need to raise because ... Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! No one is telling you to 4x or 5x, you are the one saying that. I never open raise a pot for more than 3x the big blind unless I am in shove/fold mode or I have a darn good reason to. Why put in 4x or 5x when 3x will effectively accomplish the same thing' It seems like you have the n00b view on what your raise is supposed to accomplish. You don't raise to get people to fold, at least not always. When you bet or raise you are looking for one of two things, 1) worse hands to call 2) better hands to fold I don't understand why the hell you are looking for worse hands to fold'!'!''!' ... Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! Problem is here that you let the whole world in cheap and your TPTK on a dry board isn't as strong as it seems anymore. So now what' you willing to go broke with TPTK in an unraised pot' Not a good strategy at all imo. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! I didn't comment on your AA/KK strategy. I imagine that works out pretty well since people in the low stakes just call with no regard to bet sizing. It's not how I play, but it prolly works just fine. I don't mean any disrespect, but once you understand that you don't want people with dominated hands to fold to your raises when you hold AK/AQ/AJ you will be that much closer to having a +ROI in the 180 mans on stars. :\ Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:The $4.40's are hillarious! Limp AK and AQ seriously' why' so you can see a 9 way pot and the flop comes A27 rainbow and you have no idea where you are at' This is horrible advice. Raise the AK and AQ and let the donkeys call you with dominated hands, build a pot and stack em up 4 feet high. The times when they hit their kicker oh well, fire up another.
