No, it was a bad beat, but I still F/T'd it, fought my way back to 2nd in chips and busted 7th against the same villain as in the hand above. But thx for the valuable input anyway. Cheers folks, bustout hand is gonna replay in my head and hurt like hell for a few days - next time! Thoughts on this live hand?
Played a 40-man $80 MTT last nite at the local casino. At the time of this hand we've done maybe 2 orbits at the final table. I made the FT as the short stack, but managed triple up on the first hand in the BB. In the hand just prior to this one, I shoved QJs UTG for ~9k with blinds at 1k/2k/300a, no callers. So now I'm BB, UTG+1 open shoves for ~8k, folded to chip leader in the cutoff, who iso shoves all in with 2nd chip leader yet to act in the SB. Button and SB both fold. UTG+1 is an older guy who had raised one previous time with no callers, and subsequently talked about folding 88 if ...

Reads: johnny was playing pretty tight (like 15/3/2.3 over many hands), had been at the table with him quite a while, and dont see him playing AA or KK this way. Roca was a total luckbox station frequently calling 3-bets OOP with shit like 3c2c and 75s. I hear ya on the BBJ...had a similar one not long ago on Party. I had 88, villain had AA, flop comes A88. We get all in obv, and for one fking time that ace DOESN'T come...my share of the BBJ would been ~ $80k at the time sigggggggggh

no okse not a HH misread, I only saw the HH after the fact...at the table I was very surprised to see Bavaria able to re-raise, because civil's (all-in) raise was less than 1/2 of Bavaria's original raise (like you said RR 1.5 to 1.75)

Also, it's this kind of thinking that holds you back from making the right play...you can't "know" villain will suck out, even though I totally understand that feeling when you're running bad. With 7 BB's you almost can't find a better spot to push and try for a double up...who knows maybe that's the start of a rush that leads to you going deep/winning.
