Re(2): why does gank try and brag so much??
re this thread and the well-crafted self-promo. This is a lesson in attention-getting; the guy's a master at it and it's fun to read- but (big but) let's see some significant wins already. Rank Gank or Tank Gank'

Re(4): is pokermentors serious with BELOW???
I really have a problem with people praising other people's moral values when they have no clue. Win/loss statistics tell the truel story here - and you can check some of them out on tournament reporter and the poker database. In life, you get what you pay for, but also "buyer beware." If I wanted poker lessons, I'd shoot for the best teachers - and I'd do some research before I invested. Some of us old-school, writer types know it's not just lessons that make a winner - the old saw "practice makes perfect" makes perfect sense in poker. Too bad it comes with a price tag (including, but not ...

I read them on PokerPages - Negreanu's funniest was Jan. 12, 2006 - you can find it on the PP blog archives - Sebok writes well except when he's recapping his past adventures rock climbing or whatever. Good stuff on what it's like standing in Barry G's inner (poker)circle....

Re(3): Is this cheating?
I am aware of this type of activity -is this lucky' or stupid...I hope I made the point that great players don't have to do this; it's the players who are sliding or desperate for attention that need to bend or break the rules. Or so totally immature they don't understand consequences. I see the posts about these players being so great - but how can we eally judge unless they play one account honestly'

Re(2): My Statment
Here's a depressing point - real poker players don't cheat. These posers have been laughing all the way to the proverbial bank - on our account(s)...So many unethical players climbing all over one another to make a name - grab their 15 mins. of poker fame. In the good ol' days of live poker, cheaters were shown to the door - or worse - they got it right between the eyes. What makes me so mad is that this is NOT about poker; it's about cheating and getting caught and making excuses. It looks like winning is everything to some people; immorality rules. Sick (and not in a good way).

Re(5): Another multi account player? (ZeeJustin)
Sad, but true - tip of the iceberg. At least one of the most sanctimonious ("Im so honestl) players here, calling out the cheating of others, has crossed the grey area multiple times (personal knowledge). I'm not gonna bust 'em, but it's not like there's only 1 or 2 bad apples in the basket. And now it looks like the poker sites have a way to track this stuff. Good for them!

There's a joker in the deck and it's JJ! No wonder he doesn't ask for more allowance! Then again, great sitcom material if you write for TV on the side...

Re(6): We must have a few business/banking lawyers that could parse this for us
This will not blow over or go away and it's likely the Casinos will not be hurting - they'll still be able to draw the crowds to the tournaments (do you remember the days people entered before the internet')perhaps this is why poker stars went up for sale last year, you think'

Re(2): las vegas sun reports
Yes, a boom at the casinos, but not from the internet. It's the TV factor: ESPN (reruns included) Travel Channel, celeb poker, really rich guy poker, reality poker - you name it, if it's on TV, it's drawing people to Vegas. Internet poker is really anti-Vegas in the sense you don't have to travel there to gamble.

Re(4): Ban Online Gambling could happen
It's the tenor of the times, kids. The people running things like to have it both ways: they like to get their hands on the money flow and they like the pretense of regulating or outlawing "sin." It's no lose for the powers-that-be. It doesnt really matter if the congressman is a dolt; if he gets publicity, the buzz starts and all sorts of people against online gambling jump on the horse (that could be casinos or not; angry parents whose kids play too much; tax collectors who don't feel they are getting their due, and so on)It's a sexy subject, and the more money pouring in and out of the ...

Re(4): u all misssing the point to JJ ISSUE
If the poker sites don't regulate themselves, oversight (government) will step in for them -- do you seriously think that "regulators" don't have paperwork on the table already' They can smell the money for gs, and they know that a lot of underage kids are playing. It's just a matter of time until the pissed-off parents start calling their congressmen . That's the kind of issue politicians love, so the hearings begin and that opens the entire can of worms, and so on. Like taxes for instance. Of course it depends on which lobbyists are working the aisles, but the pissed-off parents (not the ...

Re(2): My Explanation
The gma excuse is lamer than a 3-legged horse. What's unethical is unethical, gma or no gma. What's illegal is still illegal - unless you got the money for a very good lawyer. This grey area has to be addressed sooner or later and if it's not, black eye for online playing & more ammo for the people trying to get involved (i.e. "regulation"). If you look hard, you can see where this is heading and it's not good.

Who will play for the $60 mil?
Ivey's in, it was announced yesterday. But I'm guessing FSN is going to play this out to get maximum hype and exposure. Not sure all players will be announced anytime soon. But the producers will want to get the biggest bang for the buck - so I'd think Negraneu and possibly a top woman - maybe Annie Duke. Mix in with a few hyperkinetics and expect fireworks. Prize goes to the person who names all six before they're announced.(Prize=bragging rights).

Thoght it would be fun to try to i.d. the others before they're named. Thinking they might put Annie Duke in or a known woman player. You know there's going to be major hype about this and they'll want some buzz and some betting after they name them. The more Buzz, the more controversy, he better - as far as Fox Sports is concerned. Think they also want to dent the WSOP.

Re(3): Poker School for pros and regular joes? Best value?
really good advice on the cardrunners, fox B&N instruction, books - not meaning to dis anybody in particular, but do want value for the bucks. not so into self promotion; sites should sell themselves. Too many poker tv shows, even ESPN WSOP ratings down this year, competing poker sites, poker players, poker schools - so many poker players calling themselves pros - but the test isn't the internet so much, as the live tourneys when you have to face the old-school and the newest school and the sat winners. If you can win more than once and take down consistent live tournament cashes (Full ...

Poker School for pros and regular joes? Best value?
I've been looking around for the best training for the best money. I'd rather play than pay for something I can pick up for free, in a book, or just by watching the great ones: Johnny Bax, for example. I think this poker school thing is a fad, peaking soon, and I don't want to waste money for a whole year. Maybe a month, max. Checked out Gank's school, and I ain't too impressed with the staff - never heard of one of them and they look like they're fishing around for more. Who are the other pros' I'm thinking a better way to go is private lessons; one on one and you're done. looks pretty good, ...
