Re:Poker News Widget If you are looking to put a widget with a poker news feed like this on your blog, you need to go to the buttons page: Then copy the html (for the news feed widget) into your blog software (ie, blogger or wordpress) where you want the widget to show up (in the sidebar or in a post). Then look at the preview and see if it shows up the way you want it. Hope this helps. Posted in: Off Topic |

Re:Will US players ever play on Party again? That sucks Hoopie1. They always said the ability to rebuy everytime you went all in (win or lose) was not a glitch. Sure was advantageous to big bankroll players. Oh well. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re:is this the right call by him on the bubble I do not think your push is bad with JTs -- JTs plays pretty well against AK and AQ. You were short-stacked with an M around 4 and had to make something happen. However, everyone in tourneys now knows about M theory and so big stacks will often call you with any A. His was also short-stacked and I don't think his call was terrible. You could be pushing with any two value cards -- KQ, KJ, TJ, 44, etc. At this point, getting into the money to win your $1 back does not matter, building a stack is what matters and pushing and calling with value hands is what you have to ... Re:Bet on the river or no I think I would have checked the river too. I think the calls by charlimand were pretty loose -- I either would have raised or fold on the flop. I think your bet was a bit small on the flop and I would have suspected you did not have the K on the turn with the small bet. But I definitely would have checked the river because all that calling should denote at least a weak K. ___________________ Check out , a Digg-like site exclusively focused on poker. Re(2): how bad is my call here I definitely would have folded that hand. I try to use 20% of my stack as a guide for making questionable calls late in a tournament. For instance, if I have less than AK or pair of 9s, I am not calling half my stack. However, if the all in raiser only has 20% of my stack or less I will call with a lot of cards I normally would not even play in an unraised pot - hands such as A9, AT, QJ, JT, 55, etc. If the raise is only 10% of my stack or less, I will likely call with any two cards. He is desperate in that instance and could be raising with anything and I will just take a gamble to try to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Any other basketball crazies here? I disagree JRoth, I think the Illini will surprise this year. We will still probably finish 3rd or 4th in Big Ten but that would be a good year for this squad. Maybe 2nd round of NCAA. This morning we just received verbals from two excellent 2009 prospects -- so it is a good day in Illini Nation. Re(3): Below and Apestyles PXF videos - not as good? Apes, thanks for joining the mentoring team. I am looking forward to watching the full video. I have gone through the analyzer to get some sense about the tourney and hope to start watching the vids tonight. I for one really like to see the differing styles of play of the various different pros. I also like going through the analyzer for some of the other pros that post their hand histories publically. BTW, one ofthe best features ofthe site is the hand history analyzer, I try to useit for several ofthe tourneys I go deep in -- helps my play. Also,I like to peruse through the public animated HHs that are availablefrom other members. I have gone through at least 3 ofAnnette_15's animated HHs (she has more than 10 posted). There are also animated HH there from Roothlus, Strassa,CrazyCypriot, RandALLin, and many others. Re(3): #1 Pen's Article... At a full ring game, I believe you make most of the nights take onhidden hands such as trips and str8s. So I tend to limp/call withthese hands a lot.thsce so many players overplay pocket pairs theseplays are hugely EV. Reraising has value in ring games, but moreoften post-flop in my opinion. If you reraise one or two playerspreflop with AA, 9 times out of 10 they both fold and you win nothing. I will often through away good hands after the flop when faced withlots of pressure, because I know I am going to make a lot of money on ahidden hand eventually. I try to limit the losses on ... Re(4): Discussion on Methods to Increase MTT Final Table Rates Ari, You Da man. Great stuff. In a December Mansion tourney, I lost a race and ended up the shortstack with 12 to go. I pushed the next hand and doubled. Ithen pushed the next 6 of next 10 hands and ended up going to the FT with an above average stack. Aggression on the bubble is hugely ++++EV. I also think you have to be willing to take some big risks in the middle stages of the tourney. The second hour is critical, chip up or get knocked out -- don't just hang around. Re(6): profitability of tourneys I am mainly a tourney player. I only have time to play 1-2 nightsper week but I do well enough to make money at the smaller buyintourneys. I used to play strictly cash games and would win $ inprobably 80% of my sessions. However, overall I have found my bankroll has grown much faster sinceplaying tourneys than playing cash games. I think my personalityis more attune to tourneys. I get very bored playing NL cashgames for long stretches. And while I won most sessions, the losing sessions were usually for big numbers -- so the variance is difficult to deal with in cash games. The real key to ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Never Give Up -- FT of Mansion $50 We were down to 11 players in the Mansion $50 tonight and I lose a race wiith another similar sized stack and I get down to about $6000 chips when the average is around 30,000. I am the short stack I start moving in with any decent cards, I get one suckout double up and then 4 folds to my all in raises. Get to the final table with just under an average stack -- It was a tight bubble. At FT, I catch AA right away and double up from the chip leader. Then a couple hands later I get KK to win another decent pot and take over the chip lead. WE are now down to 7 and still hanging on the to chip ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |
