Re:Child Support laws are stupid...
I do a fair amount of child support work. Sometimes, with good grounds, the judge will retroactively reduce the amount of support owed to the new amount from the date the motion was filed. So, if it's been 4 months since the motion was filed and your obligation decreases by $500/month, you could get $2,000 knocked off of your arrearage. That's within the judge's discretion though, and the law might be different in NH.

I disagree with that. The phone is in plain sight. The contents of his text message are not. If the phone itself were illegal or the police were making a search incident to an arrest, it would be fine. I'd say it was def. an illegal search and seizure. Of course, that's the textbook/theoretical answer. In real lfe, they can do that all day, and you can't do a damn thing about it....lol.

That's probably about as high as it can get. I'm not sure about TN, but in Alabama you can only have "no bond" in murder cases. $200k is crazy high. Seriously fucked up story though.

I guess that another aspect of this could be our national interest of keeping certain things produced at home. Taking away farm subsidies would mean that the U.S. would import more food than we currently do, I would think anyway due to the increased prices. If we were to get involved in another worldwide type of war, our enemies could create a massive economic crisis by just attacking our food suppliers who would undoubtedly be much weaker countries. I guess that the same could be said for any good in which we rely on imports, but it would probably be more severe if it were something basic ...

That's a valid point, but in many parts of the world an economy can't be built because there is no real protection of property rights. Why grow crops if the local mob is just going to come and steal the crops or the money you make from them' I guess I'm saying that your argument could be true for some parts of the world, but not others. I have a degree in Economics, but I'm no Economist. I'm hoping somebody that knows more than me will come in here and teach me something...lol.

Isn't he a little bold to declare that the "only" winners of farm subsidies are the home country farmers and the politicians''' Doesn't that assume that other countries actually have an economy in place where agriculture would be able to thrive in a competitive market(reality being that not all countries do, obv). Some would argue that if subsidies were taken away in the U.S. that would lead to a decline in food production in the U.S. which would lead to us being unable to send food to different places in the world like Africa. I would think that you could sue him to recover your money, probably for conversion. As to the criminal end, I don't really know. I think that if you are both from the same state though, the court should have jurisdiction on a civil claim. I guess the only issue is that it needs to be enough money to be worth it. A few hundred bucks, def. not. $10k, maybe so(if he actually has the money to pay you back).
