Re(1): Mansion made a millionaire!
I don't think he comes here, but congrats to Rodel! It's a bit of consolation to know the guy who knocked me out of Round Two of PDC HU went on to take it all. (But only a bit.) I will miss PDC. All the production people were very nice and professional. Well done, Rodel! --Reg

I'm with Ari. The beach does very little for me. (But I do like to ski a bit.)

Re(1): Harrington's M and weak aces......
Lately, I've taken to asking myself, "Am I willing to die with this hand'" when I am in a push/fold situation. Usually in mid-position, unopened with ace-baby, the answer is no. In early position, pushing ace-baby, unopened, "appears" stronger.

Re(1): PLO FT $11 on stars
It was a solid call, IMO. You had a double suited wrap and the guy's M was just shy of 4. I'm surprised you doubt your call. (And I was at the FT.)

See the back of Arnold Snyder's book -- Poker Tournament Formula. There's a helpful table.

Re(1): Dear Lee, Please increase the buy-in to the sunday million tourney
I hope they don't change a thing. The field is full of players who will just give you their chips. (Unfortunately, I made a bad play and starred in the role of that guy last night.) It's not difficult to cash. Going deep gives you a significant payday -- in just several hours.

Re(1): I need help, I come close and i really suck when it counts. (MTT's)
I'm assuming these are 180 S'nGs. With 18 left, steal blinds here and there. Try not to play pots unless you have premium cards. You want to avoid a situation where there's 10-12 left in the tournament and you're in last place. Once you're table is short-handed, most of your opponents will probably be playing gingerly. This a good opportunity to steal blinds if most of the table is shorter than you. At the FT, try to sit on your hands and play ultra-tight until there are five players left. Once you're in the Top 5, push! Top 5 in an MTT is crap shoot time.

Re(1): Dear Lee (long)
BeLOWaBOVe, You are clearly honest and sincere about your position. I am the same herein. Thanks to the Internet, I have a professional relationship with Lee Nelson. I further consider him a friend -- if I may be so presumptuous. I'm sure you know who he is, but for others reading here: --Lee won the Aussie Millions --He has earned the nickname "Final Table" from his peers, a self-explanatory title --He co-authored with Blair Rodman a great strategy book called Kill Phil --He and Blair support their book with a Web forum at Because of the Kill Phil forum, I can tell ...

Re(1): Beating Flush Draws
Just remember you want people to make such bad calls against you because you'll win in the long run. When they outrun you, it's frustrating, but most of the time, you'll be happy to take their chips.

Re(1): Who plays at the woods (foxwoods)
If you specialize in NLHE tournaments like me, going to Foxwoods is not worth it because the blind structure moves so fast. I was there for a $200 NLHE tourney. There were 110 players and we reached the bubble (20 players) in about two hours, including a 10-minute break! That's a crapshoot! I only live 90 miles or so from Foxwoods, but rarely go. Because of the juice and drive, I only go to work on my live game. Online MTTs are a far better value. The Saturday $500 tourney starts with 5,000 chips, I think. This is the only NLHE tourney they have that is not a crapshoot. I keep wishing ...

Re(1): PocketFiver won Sunday's Manion PokerDome!
I very much want to thank AawwNutz for the article on WSOP qualifying. I used its advice to come in the Top 3 of 407 and qualify for the Poker Dome back in June. And I want to thank Lee Nelson of Kill Phil fame -- he and Blair Rodman give excellent advice to players. It was Lee who pushed me (and others who use the KP forum) to play the qualifiers on Mansion. What an outstanding overlay! Thank you!
