Re(11): Thoughts on Hellmuth's Call. I think this is a terrible call also. But Phil said he read the guy as very weak and he went with it. Trust me he didn't throw those chips in easily. He said his brain told him to fold and his heart told him to call. Also, he runs very very very goot. 9th weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(8): Thoughts on Hellmuth's Call. Phil was definately in the zone. I was at this table and played next to him on day 4. On day 4 someone asked him how much he relys on math in making his decisions, his repy, "I know the math but am not a math guy. I read people for strength or weakness". He tried to fold this hand but just couldn't let it go. His call against Tilly's 7-10 push was much quicker. Also alot of other factors, the opponent was raising alot and showing weak hands, etc. You know that Phil wants to be the table captain. Over the 2 days I sat with him, Phil's reads were incredible, not 100%, but better than everyone ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

I choked this hand...please help In Sunday FTP 75K Mulligan tourney, $200 buy-in. 600+ start, 31 left. Blinds 1k, 2k,ante. I've got 74k, in BB w/ AQdd. Folds to SB (cl w/120k), he plays aggressive. He raises to 6k...do I raise, call, fold' I raised to 30k, he pushed, I called. He showed AA, I'm out. I know my raise amount is wrong. What is the best preflop play for me' The flop had 2 diamonds, so I might go broke no matter what. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(2): Variance Shit happens. Deep in the Dise 100k, I had the folling hands within a 35 min. period: AK vs A 10 flop 2 7 K (98% v 2%) when money goes in. Runner 10,10 A 10 vs 8 9 flop 2 3 10 (94% v 6%) when $ goes in. J,Q runners AA vs AK money in flop K K X (92% v 7%) The first 2 the other guys all in. last time I was all in. Would of had top 20 stack instead out 120th no$. Surprised I didn't break the computer. Posted in: Bad Beats |

Aggression vs. Stupidity - last night UB 15k I would really appreciate some constructive comments on the following hand, sorry no HH. Late in $100 buy in, 35 left, 170 started. Blinds 300-600, ante-75. My stack 29k (3rd or 4th, leader at 36k), other player 20k (above avg.) UTG I raise to 1800 w/ AJs, player 2 to my left calls, all else fold. Flop = J55 (2 suited, not my suit). I had only played with this player for less than 1 hour, my gut was that he was passive, but I didn't have much to go on. I lead out 2,500 (approx. 1/2 pot), he calls. Turn = rag. I lead out 10,000 (approx pot), he comes over all in, I make crying call ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Adam's Paradise Article Good questions Mindwise. Since it sounds like they don't have a TEC type system, can you bank your satellite wins and use them whenever you like' Do they have single table satellites' Guess I'm lazy, also. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

The difference between B&M and Online Was playing in a NL tourney at the Bike (los angeles) last night. It was typical live play with raises being given alittle more respect than they get online. The hands were pretty easy to read, and there were very few hidden (read "online") surprises. With some timely cards, I make the final table with a slight chip lead. Now the blinds and antes start ratcheting and everyones stack is at 4 or less rounds of the button. Everyone becomes an aggressive freak, I call an all in preflop from the next biggest stack who shows 99, my QQ should give me 33% of chips in play, bink..2 outer takes me to ... ARUBA in SEPTEMBER I've won an entry into the UB tourney that does not include hotel accomodations. I see that the tourney is at the Radisson and UB puts people up at the Radisson and the Hyatt. For those of you that have been there I would appreciate any comments/recommendations on where to stay. Thanks Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): UB 200 Cal, I appreciate the empathy. Thought I was going to be at the final table of this tourney for the second week in a row. I think my hand was a 6 1/2 or 7 to 1 favorite. Not sure why my opponent wanted to commit to a KJo for all his chips when he was in 8th or 9th place and not short stacked. What's your UB moniker' Posted in: Poker Discussion |
