**2012 OT MLB Power Rankings - Memorial Day Edition** I feel like stats get brought into the equation when people utter statements that are patently false and easy to be proven wrong. When people start spouting stats like wins, ERA, RBIs, and saves and try to use them to justify performance despite the fact that they've been proven to be worthless counting stats they're going to get crushed. I personally feel like I can use stats to more easily explain why a certain player is either performing well or slumping. On the other hand, I like watching games to see if players can bust their trends. Take Gio Gonzales for example, when Washington traded ... Posted in: Off Topic |

**2012 OT MLB Power Rankings - Memorial Day Edition** I love that Texas is so loaded, because it gives us priceless Ron Washington post-season bullpen fuckups. And this season, his unfailing damn the torpedos I'm batting Andrus 2nd and Napoli 8th no matter how dumb it is experiment is great as well. Yes, I'm a bitter Ms fan. Posted in: Off Topic |

Preston Winslow/Blake Appleton/Tebow I don't neccessarily agree with you here QW (with the charity work being forced angle). Even if the charity work is done for image reasons, self esteem boost, etc. The less fortunate are still getting helped and that's a good thing IMO. I do agree that Tebow goes above and beyond. if you could bring back any 2 series..... El Burro...the show with Kelly K, Bill Bellamy, and Peter Facenelli (sp) was called, 'Fastlane' I was talking about it with a buddy of mine. It took us a while to think of the name of the show , it was cheesy and awesome. The 5 season minimum I think is a little harsh. I thought The Wire was brillant obviously, the season with the media was great (and how it got tied in with Marlo), but I would've liked to see another season of the cops battling Marlo instead of fucking Scott Templeton. Scrubs definetly ran its course, I really enjoyed the series finale and thought it got summed up ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Serious tipping thread. Thank you for typing this up and saving me the trouble. I understand why people are anti-credit card, I just don't agree with it. So many good deals to be had (cashback, airline miles...although lol at the Capital One Venture Cards). I'm in the process of shopping for a new one myself. I'd like to get one that accumulates airline miles (Gold AA Citi card, SW card) but I just don't travel very much presently. I think a cashback card is probably the way to go (for me currently anyways). Posted in: Off Topic |

Serious tipping thread. * I'll tip a couple extra bucks if the server/sommelier (sp')*makes a solid wine recomendation that I otherwise wouldn't of chosen and I don't feel like they're just trying to sell me the most expensive bottle on the menu.* Alot of times we end up just paying the corking fee (which I'm never tipping on)*unless it's ridiculous, wine*markups at restaurants are generally insane.* I feel that any server worth his/her salt knows that getting tipped on wine is an unexpected bonus and they shouldn't count on it.* More often than not, if you're buying a bottle of wine, your check is generally going ... **Champions League Final: Chelsea @ Bayern Munich, Sat 2:45p.m. EST** In the 'Go Bayern for the sake of Spurs' camp. If Chelsea wins, Modric is definetly gone and I think there's a 75% chance Bale would leave as well. That would suck. Although it seems like Modric has been clammering for a change of scenery for a while so he might be gone regardless. I also think next season will be Van der Vaarts' (sp') last in a Spurs kit if they qualify for CL play. He's made it pretty clear he wants to finish his career in Holland. Posted in: Off Topic |

Groomsmen/ Best man gift ideas Probably the best gift I've received as a best man/groomsmen was a set of pint glasses from a bar myself and the groom used to frequent. Was super practical because I use pint glasses all the time and had some nice nostalgia factor because almost everytime I see those pint glasses I think of the stupid hijinx we pulled when we were younger. I'm with JRoth in the anti-flask category. I've gotten 3 of them and I simply never use them. I'd honestly rather prefer a bottle of booze over a flask. I know it lacks creativity but we're men FFS, shouldn't we value utility over creativity' Posted in: Off Topic |

Good graduation gifts for the SO? Isn't getting gifts for graduating college extremely unusual' Maybe it's a regional thing. I don't recall any of my friends or myself getting anything of note. For the record, I think it should be flip flopped as I think graduating from college is a bigger deal, but I understand the thought process and reasoning why we celebrated HS graduations so much. **Champions League Semifinals: Barcelona v Chelsea and Real Madrid v Bayern Munich** If ol 'Arry takes the England job I'd love to see Spurs make a full court press for Pep *snaps back to reality*. I've heard conflicting reports, if Chelsea wins the CL final, does the EPL only get 3 spots with Chelsea picking up the 4th as the champ' That would stink if true, the race for 4th is going to be awesome I think. Newcastle is insanely hot right now but they've got a brutal stretch of games coming up with Chelsea, City, Everton and Wigan (in no particular order). Spurs' schedule is much more pedesterian with Bolton, Fulham, Villa and Blackburn. They look absolutely gassed though. ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Baseball Discussion April 23-29 LaHair is a nice story, but I think he's a AAAA guy at best. Maybe he gets moved to LF when Rizzo comes up. I can't see him bringing back anything of value at the trade deadline. He's the Cubs version of Mike Carp...which is weird because LaHair used to be in Seattle's organization. Posted in: Off Topic |

How much is too much? (pranks) Cosign with Admiral. I remember my fraternity house had rules of etiquette when passing out drunk. If you passed out on the community couches downstairs (disgusting) you were fair game to getting messed with. Even then, we wouldn't think of doing anything remotely close to the video. However, if you could make it upstairs you were safe. I had this weird habit of passing out with my eyes slightly open so luckily people thought I was still awake and would refrain from screwing with me. Still, I had a reflex of if somebody touched my head or chest area I would inadvertently take a swing at ... Posted in: Off Topic |
