bbjpot question
Thanks...Makes sense and that's what we found out. The KQQQQ with A2 is a little different though. He would be playing 4 Q's but using the A out of his hand would only be using 1 of his hole cards. With AQ on a KKQQQ board, he would be playing 4 Q's with the other card being his A, since that would be a better hand than playing the board's K (AQ - QQQKK, playing QQQQA with the A kicker is a better hand than KQ - QQQKK playing QQQQK with the K being the kicker) With the A2, you would only being playing one of your hole cards. With the AQ, you would be using both. I understand the ruling so no ...

bbjpot question
Guess he should have put HHjackpot in the title instead of bbjp. No bad beat jackpot. We were playing high hand jackpot. We are playing cash at a home game. We all understand that he has quads. We were just unsure how the high hand jackpot would have went down in a casino. We actually do play a high hand jackpot at the home game and we know that you have to use both your hole cards to qualify for the high hand. We just don't know if the guy playing with KQ could use his K, or would he be playing the board's K. We checked several casino rules and they all said that to qualify for a high ...

Little one on the way and a Full Time player.....Can it be done?
Making the adjustment right away will be tough. Especially when the little one is waking up every few hours. You might want to play cash until the baby can sleep through the night. Once this stage arrives, you can usually play a night schedule. I was able to play a full night schedule plus Grad school with my first one so it definitely can be done, you just have to be patient and make sure you are getting enough sleep. I would advise taking at least the first month or so off if at all possible so that you can adjust. Nothing anyone can say will prepare you for what you are going to be going ...

Thread is getting a little more interesting every hour Looks like a backer being given information about a possible stake horse''' Having a bone marrow transplant kind of puts things into perspective I think buddy. Being concerned with 6600 in a poker account might not be #1 on the old priority list. From what I've heard from family and friends, bone marrow issues are extremely painful and tiresome.

33k profit in 2009, -10k in 2010, someone help!
I'm in a situation very similar to yours. I made around $70K profit in '09 but despite having a $20K score and a bunch of others between $1K-$8K I found myself down for '10. My wife and I had our 2nd child in April so my time to study and go over HH has been limited. I would say that was the major cause of my downswing. I got complacent and quit putting in the time to study how the game was changing. Yes, I did have very bad luck and continue to go through the downswing, but I did realize some of the flaws in my game by putting in more hours watching videos and going over my own HHs. Analyze ...

Matt Affleck - Give the man credit
lol Poorly played to get your chips in as a 80% Matt have played the hand differently to make sure he didn't go busto''' Sure he could have. He could have checked the turn to control the pot and not inflate it, but like he said when Duhameldonk called...Matt put him on KK. If he's going with his read there, he couldn't be in much better shape. Not what I would have done, but then again, I've never even played the main event, much less made it to the final few tables two years in a row. Just a bad beat IMO on a awful call by someone who knew they were beat trying to make a hero call.

For players with wife and kids
I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. I crushed in '09, but I've struggled with having the two of them. Lack of sleep definitely plays into it I think, but I wouldn't trade any amount of success for having both of them. I don't play for a living though. I'm a high school teacher and a baseball coach. I do however depend on my poker winnings to live since my wife stays at home to take care of both of them. In terms of what to do...My sessions start when my kids go to sleep. There are just to many distractions when they are awake. Its hard to manage playing multiple Mtts and spending time ...

What has been your big break/score which spurred you forward playing poker?
Had about a $1K BR and final tabled the $40K $69 +$6 tourney on FTP for a little over $1K. That afforded me enough money to splash around in the $75K $150 +$12 on FTP the next night and ended up taking it down for $18K+

Johnny Chan
Agreed about the Hollywooding...like it was said, Chan had just got to the table, not even seated really...still taking his chips off the racks...kind of seemed like he didn't give much thought to reading the other guy very much. Probably just thinks that everyone is going to try to 3 and 4 bet him out of pots. Not going to fold KK though too many times preflop especially if you're Johnny Chan and its your first hand at a new table and everyone is watching you dump $2.6 mill on the table.

Tough spot in 1k WCOOP vs D1rtyRiv3r
Very interesting hand...He is not to deep to flat with AA there PF IMO, especially with an active table. I'm stumped though, like usual. A10 HH looks like a possibility, although I might not be able to be sold on him flatting pre with this hand. Could also have 66 and is bluffing the river A knowing you don't have one and that you don't have a straight either.

What's the longest streak you've ever gone without cashing in an online tournament?
I've seen some pretty high numbers but I'm just curious what some of you guys who play 20+ tourneys a day have to say. I have had the doom button placed on my full tilt account for the past 30 tournaments, but the most I've ever gone is 41. Is this a lot or do you guys crush my #' What's your number'

Can a part time player, who doesnt MA, Ghost, isnt backed and uses no technology win?
You pretty much described me with your post with the exception of technology. I have very few friends in the poker community so discussion is not a big deal to me (although I do have a few players I respect and talk poker with). I am a high school teacher and a baseball coach full time. I play maybe 2-3 days/nights a week. My wife is able to stay at home with our two children (2 year old and a 4 month old) with the money that I make from poker. I made about $30K more last year playing poker than I did teaching so it kind of supplemented my wife's salary. I have no aspirations of being the #1 ...

TLDR; 4 censorship, Sorel Mizzi is a cheater
Anybody want to throw a % out there' What percentage of players play under multiple accounts' Is this something that is extremely rare, or do a lot of players do this, but just think they will never get caught' I mean if there is no deterrent then what is stopping people from doing this on a massive scale' What responsibility does Full Tilt and Poker Stars have to making sure this kind of thing doesn't happen'

TLDR; 4 censorship, Sorel Mizzi is a cheater
Far to often what people do behind closed doors is much different from what they do when people are watching. People are not good because of the things they do when people are watching. People are good because they do what is right when nobody is watching. You never know what a person is capable of when it comes to money. Where there is a lot of money to be made, rest assured there will always be shady people trying to make money the easy way.
