CasH Players HUD Options for Pokertracker?
I know that this is a common thread on here and I'll probably search through some old threads to look at peoples opinions. But I'm throwing this out here again anyway just to see some more opinions of what people use in your display box, and why. I have been going default up until now, VPIP, PFR, and Aggression Factor. I definitely think VPIP and PFR are obvious MUST HAVEs just to identify the clear fish and separate the TAGs from the LAGs etc. Aggression factor though just seems so generic and even though I look at it some I dont really trust it much becasue its not really giving me ...

Re:WTF Mohegan Dealer?!?!
Ohh,, I disagree, I LOVE when delusional people at Casinos start trying to pretend rthat they are Mike McDermot and everyone else is Johnny Chan. My first time in a Casino $1$2 game a few years back I had a guy at the table annoyed because I made a joke about him wearing sunglasses inside, and in the AC Tropicana poker room, which if any of you have been there is a very dimly lit, borderline dark room to begin with. He just started makiong move after move, like he was at the final table of a WPT table with 20 bbs. Finally I caught pocket AA, raised, he called, he made a pot lead out, I came ...

Re:WTF Mohegan Dealer?!?!
If you are playing super LAG, 3 barrell bluffing, 3 betting light, at a Mohegan Sun $1$2 table then you are going to be going home broke eventually anyway. Dealer probably felt bad for you and was trying to save you a little money. I know its off topic but I'm trying to figure your logic in this hand in general, I mean, you think this guy is tilting or bad enough to actually get it all in with $300+ with a worse hand than trip aces 10 kicker, yet you thought that he was solid enough that it was profitable to 3 bet him with your A10 to begin with' As far as the dealer mucking you' I ...

Re:timing tells in cash
I will say that I find the waiting thing when I bluff on a check raise to be huge. I dont let it run down to the timer or anything , but I make sure to at least pause a good 5-10 seconds after opponent bets and then I reraise. I really have noticed that when i check raise really quickly I get called or reraised waaay more often. Also, when I cbet really quick I get called a bit more ( or it seems that way) so I have been making sure even while multitabling to pause at least 5 seconds before I cbet so as to not make it look like I knew I was cbetting before I even saw the flop. So, ...

Re:The Poker Economy Tipping Point
I think that its clear that the Key thing that needs to happen is for online poker to be legalized and regulated in the US, AND for the government not to put some kind of outlandish monster tax on poker income. No point having more fish online if you have to pay a 30% gambling tax on top of your regular income tax everytime you withdraw money. If the game is legalized, then it's just all up to the online companies Marketing the game. Can Party Poker, Stars, FTP, Cake etc market poker in a way that actually attracts new players to the game itself instead of just fighting with one another ...

Re:The Poker Economy Tipping Point
This is why I would never dream of trying to play professionally unless I knew that I could make so much $$$ over the next couple of years that it would be worth the damage to my future career, business, etc. Anyone who is dropping out of college or quiting a good job to play poker these days so that they can grind out a high 5 figure or low 6 figure salary is taking an unbelievably gigantic risk with very little return unless they somehow get a lot better at poker or something happens to rejuvenate the number of fish out there for the long haul. It is pretty scary that, not counting ...

Question for winning small to mid stake Full Ring Cash players on 3 betting approach at NL50 - NL100
I've been playing a lot of Full Ring Cash games the past few months, had good success at NL50, I averaged about 3.5bbs/100 playing about 9 tables at a time. I'm feeling pretty good overall at NL100 so far and feel like I will be able to continue to win at at least the same rate at this level. Still, I feel like if I'm ever going to be succesful beyond NL100 I'll need to be much much stronger preflop. The one area of my game however that I have really played kind of passively to this point has been preflop. For any of you who play or have played NL50 - NL100 Full Ring games ...

The main problem with the movie is that the whole "life of an poker grinder" thing was a lot more interesting back when you actually had to find underground clubs, "golf pro games" etc. What is this movie going to' Mike McDermott popping adderolls and grinding multi table mid stake cash games online' Mike McDermott smoking J's while grinding 24 table online games as he tries to reach Supernova Elite staus on Stars' Mike McDermott raking pots off of Lou Diamond Philips and "George" from Seinfeld as he tries to navigate through 5000 man fields at the Main ...

Re:timing tells in cash
Are timing tells really a big part of your decision making process' I mean, in general I guess people tend to bet faster on a cbet when they miss than when they hit a big hand but I dont think that its really that big a deal. I actually purposely wait a few extra seconds when I check raise bluff people to try to make it look like I have a bigger decision to make with my big hand. Not sure it really has any effect but it just shows that timing tells arent really that useful. The only timing tell that I give any credence to is when someone sits and waits like 20 seconds and then makes a huge ...

This movie could be amazing. I dont know how many of you have played No Limit Candyland yet but I've been hearing that this game is really growing with the younger crowd and within the next several years could eclipse Holdem as the game of choice for top card players. I cant wait to see this movie.

Re:Cash games V MTTS
You should be able to answer this yourself. What are you better at' where do you feel like you have a bigger edge' Obviously aside from the what are you better at thing there are pros and cons to each. Cash games, more flexible schedule, more consistent income if you are a good player, playing cash probably helps you become better at any game (MTT or Cash) more than MTTs will help you get better at cash, and at the higher buy ins cash games offer a higher ceiling for earnings, ie, the best Cash players make much more than best MTTers, Mid stake Cash gamers probably make more than mid stake ...

Re:Peition to get rid of 20bb shortstackers on Full Tilt
Yeah, there is almost no way that anyone is making significant profit off of the "good" shortstackers. You simply are not going to make a lot of money off of guys who wit and wait for QQ+ AK in EP and 1010+ AQ AK in LP to shove. Its really not very exploitable. And even the bad ones, I mean sure I dont mind having only bad ones at my table but you are still not winning any huge hands off of these guys since they only have 20bbs so their presence at the table alone probably takes away enough value from taking seats that would otherwise be occupied by full stacks to make their total ...

Re:For those of you who say they never re-deposit..
WOW DUDE!! I didnt realize how extreme you were talking about the bankroll management. You basically took you bankroll and sat at a NL50 game, actually were lucky enough to run it up to $17k and blew through all of that' Thats waaay beyond anything I've experinced with gambling out of stakes. I hope that that stuff is truly behind you, you should really be careful and possibly take a good look at yourself to decide for sure that you dont have a real gambling problem in general. Do you gamble on sports' or blackjack' non poker related games' Its hard for me to relate to the hard core ...

Re:For those of you who say they never re-deposit..
I think that it is important to also factor in the value of your time and what you can afford to lose from your "non poker winning" when starting a roll. If someone can afford to deposit $1000 initially and has the intelligence and requisite base knowledge to learn to win fairly quickly, AND they place a high degree of value on their time, then it could be EV+ to deposit more and avoid the hours upon hours of micro grinding that would be required with a smaller deposit. I know that this is a little bit off topic since the original post was about avoiding having to reload etc but I ...

Re:Supernova Elite Question
So I have one more question, not that I plan one rakeback grinding. The pokerstars websites VPP calculator only lets you put up to 12 tables but if I double the numbers to assume 24 tables at a time, you would need about 38 - 40 hours a week playing NL100. But you would only need to play about 26 - 27 hours a week at NL200 to reach SNE'' I have to admit, even though I have no intention of trying to be a pro pker player, it would be pretty damned tempting to be a rakeback pro if I could make $120k a year working less than 30 hours a week. Especially if you had the ability and drive to start ...

Re:Supernova Elite Question
I just have one question for the rakeback pros, Supernova elite Now, if you are in college and just have tons of time to grind cash games to make good money while earning your degree I can understand that. I mean, making a 6 figure salary while in college would be sick (although you obviously would be missing out on all the fun of being ini college). For people though who grind rakeback for a living, and I dont mean to criticize, but what is the long term goal' I cant imagine that anyone would be able to grind out rakeback as a career without going crazy, do you really plan to grind rakeback ...

Re:For those of you who say they never re-deposit..
I can speak as someone who has built two separate bankrolls, One 4 years ago when the games were super easy and one earlier this Summer. Between the two I took about two years of barely playing (maybe I'd play a couple of MTTs a month) 4 years ago I played on Party Poker. I probably deposited and lost like $100 2 or 3 times before finally depositing $100 maybe my 3rd time and running well. From what I remember I basically found a game that I could master and crush (for me it was 30 or 50 man sit n gos, at $20 - $30 buy ins). I played those almost exclusively for a few months( the ...

Cash Games, Any of guys bb/100 actually increase after moving from NL50 to NL100? Full Ring
So, I took my first shot at moving to NL100 a month ago and ran terrible and also played like an imbecile (decided it was a good time to open up my 3 betting/4 betting etc) in my first 2 sessions leading to a $600 downswing and a move back to NL50. I have built my roll back to my 40 buy in limit and moved back to NL100 earlier this week and have just approached it by just playing my game, and not making random adjustments to my game just for the sake of making an adjustment. After reviewing my sessions I'd say that I'm running about average at best card wise but I am winning way more ...

Re:Rakeback opinion for non fulltime cash grinders
Okay, that makes sense, I suppose if you are playing about 25-30% more hands and pulling an additional 30% or higher number of pots per hand then that would explain the big difference. I could take my $22 per hr *1.3*1.3 = that would bring me to around $38 an hour so I guess tat explains it. My main goal is obviously to get better and move up in stakes by winning money at the actual tables. I just wouldnt want to miss out on a significant amount of money per hour by playing on Stars rakeback system. I was reading through Stars site and apparently it seems like they also allow something like ...

Re:Rakeback opinion for non fulltime cash grinders
I play Full Ring so that could be the reason, I average about 425 hands per hour playing 8-9 tables. My poker tracker shows me only paying about $11 an hour in rake at NL50 which will translate to $22 an hour at NL100 if I keep playing around 425 hands per hour. I feel like my rake stats must be wrong on pokertracker because if you are raking $45 an hr at 6 max, 6 tables I should be at least in the $35 an hour range at full ring 8 - 9 tables. How many hands per hour do you average when you play 6 tables of 6 max' Does it come out to more than 425 per hour'

Re:Rakeback opinion for non fulltime cash grinders
On just 6 tables' That seems like a lot no' I've been playing 8 - 9 tables at NL50 until recently. My pokertracker shows my Total rakeback as $2700 over about 200 hours. If I got back 27% of that I would make back $730 over 200 hours or a little over $3.50 per hour playing NL50. Now that I am at NL100 I guess that would work out to a total of about $7 per hour. Based on those numbers I guess I will actually miss out on a little over $3 an hour at NL100 if I only earn 16% rakeback as opposed to 27%. Is the rakeback statistic on pokertracker reliable' Because according to that I wont come ...

Re:Darvin Moon
Yeah, I think that a lot of the so called "amateurs" who won recently were basically people who could play pro and do well but happened to have real jobs. I know Raymer and Hachem played mid to semi high stake cash games regulary on a part time basis before winning the main event. I think that Jaimie Gold won a few 5 figurish live tournaments in LA in the year leading up to the Main Event as well so he must have at least a clue what he's doing. Moneymaker and Yang'' seem more like true amateurs although Moneymaker seems to have had some level of tournament success since the ...

Re:What poker room in KC is better?
Both have a kind of seady atmosphere but Harahs is definitely the better poker room. Ameristar from what I remember had some wierd rules, I cant remember what they were but they kind of had their own set of house rules that were a little annoying. It may have been like a 50 bb max buy in or something like that' Either way, Harahs has more going on. I think they have a little $50 50 person max tournament every Sunday evening as well.

Re:Rakeback opinion for non fulltime cash grinders
Thanks, this helps. Based on that chart I'm losing 11% rakeback versus Tilt if only accumulate enough VPPs a month to make Gold Star. 11% of the rake that I've paid so far according to pokertracker is about $250, and over 205 hours played it works out to about $1.25 per hour. Not insignificant by any means but probably not enough to get me to move to Tilt... Are there any additional deposit bonuses that can be earned on stars in addition to the VPP program' If so I would just deposit enough to max out any bonuses as well and withdraw once they clear. I know that on Full Tilt the ...
