Re:changing poker screenames 10 yrs from now..... A friend of mine is "yerabawbag"* on the Ps3 and his kids are now old enough to be asking what it means. He's managed to persuade his eldest daughter ( age 6) that it just means "you're a bag" which she says is just silly.( as his wife throws him looks from across the room) * bawbag = Scottish for scrotum! Re:sit and gos still beatable? Good reply.I'd also add that it sounds like you're being too rigid with your ranges.Sure many hands are easy auto shoves when folded to you late on, but you also need to adapt the way you play the same hand v different opponents depending on stack sizes, table image of you and villain, blind levels etc. For example, fold equity is key when pushing.I may shove j9s from the button with just under 10bb v tight mutli tabling regs in the sb and bb at 100/200, but if the sb was a calling station and the bb a loose donkey too, ( prob with a big stack ) I'd probably wait for a better ... Re:People over 30 I'm 37 and have made about $35k over the last 5 years, starting out with low stakes cash games and now mainly playing $22 turbo sngs.I work fulltime and only usually play a few hundred games per month at most.I make enough to pay a few bills throughout the year and still keep a decent roll online. If I was younger, hungrier and played more tables ( I'm not keen on playing more than 4 once) I'd probably make more $$.Perhaps it's not an age issue but I think I'd take more shots etc if I was 15 years younger.I'm very protective of my roll and aware of the value of money ... Re:Shoving AK 1st hand of turbo SNGs.. thoughts? In a $3 turbo sng with limpers I don't hate shoving as you'll probably get looked up by worse hands often enough and if you do get called by a pair you have all 5 community cards to hit your Ace or King.( less folding post flop when you miss) In general though I'd raise enough to try and narrow the number of callers or take it down uncontested. I do agree with the guy who posted about being ultra-tight early btw, but I think you have to combine that with serious aggression when you do pick up a top hand. Also agree that limping here is just horrible. Re:How do they do it? How do they dodge the bad luck? And as I'm sure Annodv is aware, a 50 buy-in downswing for a winning sng player is totally standard as are 1000-2000 game break even stretches. I did email Stars last year after a nasty horrible run and they sent me back stats showing my AA/KK wins were around average.Of course I looked into it and could have driven myself mad convincing myself most of my AA/KK wins were without showdown and blah blah blah blah.Told myself to get a grip, toughen up and stop whining. If you want to be in the 5-10% of players who actually beat the game you have to learn to deal with variance better than the ... Re:Stacking off early in SNGs with AK Agreed.I'd only fold AK to a very good regs pf raise early in the game or possibly to a raise and reraise pf, otherwise I'm going with it.I've been called by far worse than J10,A7 too on a regular basis.( $6.50-$22's stt's and $16 18 player games) People are too quick to assign ranges similar to their own ( assuming they're a winning player) when most micro donks can barely tie their own shoelaces. Re:why are turbo ait n gos so popular? Sorry but lol at the last part of this post.Sng wiz etc do not teach perfect push/fold poker. They are a useful tool certainly however the key is not the software itself but the hand ranges the users assign.Get those wrong or slightly out and all the best software /ICM knowledge in the world won't make a loser into a winner. Re:Entire 2009 SNG Profits Gone........Help. Good luck turning things round.I had my first losing sng month in a long time last month and it hurt like hell too despite being over-rolled and despite me only being a hobby player. It does take it out of you mentally and checking hh's to make sure I wasn't pushing too hard to win back losses or playing too passively to avoid more suckouts helped me get back on track when I began running a little better. Re:I want to be a SNG player-Please help! I hate maths and do ok at low limit sngs. These calculators are only as good as the info you put in.Try shoving hands between 5-9 ( 79,67,56 ,sooted pref) instead of Ace rags late on too,if you're not catching any hands. If I was you I'd also move down to 4 tables and make sure you've got the basics right before adding more.Prepare to see more bad beats and lost flips than you could ever imagine, and deal with them.If you can ,and you're any good, most of the villains at low stakes are so bad you couldn't fail to profit over a decent sample size.
