Not Quite Threadworthy (OT's Dumping Ground) - May 2012 Not really sure if this is threadworthy or not, but the United Nations has appointed a new director of tourism. Robert Mugabe. Sometimes, you can't make this shit up... Never mind that Robert Mugabe is under a travel ban for his cruel stewardship of Zimbabwe since independence. The United Nations, in its wisdom, has designated him a "leader for tourism" and chosen the Victoria Falls, shared with Zambia, as the venue for a holiday industry conference next year. At the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), based in Madrid, the thinking seems to be: "If the old man can't visit us then we ... Posted in: Off Topic |

***Euro 2012*** I agree Carrick had a solid season, and should probably be there in place of a rando Liverpool scrub, but he's not cracking the Parker-Gerrard-Lamps triangle any time soon. He also isn't nearly as important to United if Darren Fletcher ever recovers from this ridiculous disease that has basically cost him 1.5 years at this point. I am not even going to try to argue with England fans about this. I'll just let you guys enjoy another tournament where Steven Gerrard leads you to glory, just like he has at every international tournament ever. Guess the missing player is di Natale, no ... ***Euro 2012*** At this point in their careers, you'd rather have Gerrard' Parker was an absolute boss for the first 2/3 of the season (not to mention won some player of the year awards last season and was nominated for the rest, and that was with no talent around him at West Ham) until his health issues coincided with Arry's desire to run his team out of Europe and kill his job chances, like Prem Best XI good. Gerrard, not so much anymore. Yeah, I know it's hard to look good when your manager gets diplomatic immunity for idiocy and can load you up with 40 million pounds worth of Jordan Henderson and Stuart ... Posted in: Off Topic |

**French Open 2012** 10-0 start for American women, and even some random American guys snuck through round 1. Will probably be just Isner and some ladies soon enough. Fed becomes the all-time leader in Grand Slam singles victories tomorrow, but doubt he cares about that if he loses to Novak next week. It's tough with 3 of the top 10 (realistically 3 of the top 5 might be more fair) players of all time playing at such a high level, not too many upsets on the big stage. But maybe, just maybe, this could be Andy Murray's time... Posted in: Off Topic |

***Euro 2012*** I'd say he's 4th behind Neuer, Iker, and Hart, maybe 5th behind Cech, but I also get less coverage of Serie A here than of BPL, La Liga, and Bundesliga, so maybe I haven't really seen how imperious he was this season in giving up 16 goals in 38 matches. 4 keepers in a list of 40 seems fine. I think Muller is way too high as he no longer starts for Bayern and probably no longer starts for Germany, still riding the credentials of last WC. I think, as I've said before, that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos are far too low. I can't imagine a scenario in choosing a World's XI where I don't at least ... Posted in: Off Topic |

***Euro 2012*** Your whole country did get burned by a whole bunch of pompous assholes last time, so it's pretty understandable. Domenech was the worst, and Anelka is never coming anywhere near the team again... i prolly would ban Evra for life too since Clichy is a fine deputy and less of a dick. That said, you have sooooo much talent it's absurd. Whether it will become a team, or survive the long term loss of Eric Abidal, is beyond me. Game of Thrones - A Clash of Kings Official Book Snob Thread Do you at least think he's alive' GRRM loves to graphically kill his people, and the only ones I can think of in the first season where we don't actually see the death are Syrio (who gets left in the room against a pussy who is terrified of Bronn, and I'm guessing First Sword of Braavos is a better swordsman than Bronn) and the girls' septa. We at least see her head on a stick later, but nothing about Syrio. We should ask Varys. Posted in: Off Topic |

Game Of Thrones Season Two **No Spoilers posted ITT please** There seems to be some confusion about which Kingsguard members did what. At the start of the show King Robert had 7 members of his Kingsguard. Ser Barristan, the old guy who was dismissed by Cersei after reading Robert's letter to Ned, was the head, but Jaime got promoted to commander after that. His spot was taken by the Hound. Jamie Lannister, you all know. Then there's Ser Meryn Trant, Ser Boros Blount, Ser Mandon Moore, and 2 without names so far. Ser Meryn is the one who was sent to capture Arya and who was in full body armor cutting up Syrio Forel's wooden practice sword as Arya ... Posted in: Off Topic |

Game of Thrones - A Clash of Kings Official Book Snob Thread That's the one I meant... Jaqen is a trippy character and it's pretty fun to speculate who he is in later books and/or who he was before. I still don't think Syrio Forel is dead... could they be the same person' Syrio can't possibly have died to Ser Meryn... remember, Meryn's the pussy who Tyrion and Bronn totally work over in the great scene where Tyrion says "Bronn, if Ser Meryn speaks again, kill him. You see, that's a threat." No chance that guy could kill the First Sword of Braavos. Then Jaqen, who can kill infinity people and is a faceless man, adept at taking new identities and ... ***Euro 2012*** I think Rio is really good. At least, he is now. I just think he was absolute shit for all those Sol Campbell years and, unlike a lot of hacks, he worked his ass off and actually figured the game out. He was like Balotelli: insane talent, fucking idiot. Difference being that Balotelli saved more of his idiocy for off the pitch. Sturridge is never playing as a striker on a team with Drogba and Torres. He's also never playing as a striker on a team with Welbeck and Andy Carroll... if he doesn't learn to be a winger, he'd better learn to play for teams like Swansea because that's about his ... ***Euro 2012*** Uh, Sturridge doesn't play for City. But if you think he should start over Welbeck, you're dumber than I thought. I understand he'd rather play in the middle than on the wings, but he played himself out of a job at Chelsea and was the one player who stopped getting playing time when they started winning things... Milner and Barry, wow. Do you hate Villa too' Can't really argue Milner, as while I think he's a solid squad player for City (and the player who suffered most when Nasri showed up), he has absolutely no place in England's lineup as they have plenty of center mids and he's not a ... ***Euro 2012*** I had the same guess, but Adam Johnson isn't on the list as he hasn't played in like 2050125463245210946 games for City. Oh and the reason Micah Richards hasn't played a lot of the big games is who was world class during the run-in... Richards was injured, and when he came back Zabaleta was playing out of his mind and the unit was functioning cohesively, so Mancini rightly didn't want to change anything. And your team is exactly mine, except I refuse to type the name "Glen Johnson" even if I know he's playing. Can't they just go Cahill, Terry, Lescott, Cole and be done with it' Posted in: Off Topic |

Game of Thrones - A Clash of Kings Official Book Snob Thread Pretty sure Jon Snow is not dead. That said, happy to see that there are finally some actual spoilers up in here. Can't tell you how much I wanted the first post itt to just say "Tyrion kills his dad" or something like that. So next week there's minor fallout in King's Landing and then Robb gets married, house of Undying, Jon kills the Halfhand, Sam kills something all evil and mysterious with dragonglass, Theon gets pwned and Bran has to run away before the Bolton Bastard takes Winterfell' And there has to be an Arya scene too' Wow, good luck... ***Euro 2012*** Obviously David Whats hates Man City. Oh and what kind of crack pipe did you pull that got you to stick Glen Johnson in your midfield instead of on the golf course where he belongs' Gareth Barry was always going to start before he got injured, but now it looks like he's not going and Roy is going to bring Jagielka instead of Micah Richards... while I like Jagielka a lot more than some of the guys in the squad, Micah Richards' absense is completely inexplicable since he should be starting. Pig Roast That looks pretty awesome, but what did you do with all the good parts' Living in a mostly Halal country finally caused me to hit breaking point and I've been searching out every restaurant within 100 miles that specializes in pork... they do amazing things with head, feet, and tail, but the fatty pork belly and crispy pork knuckle are the best. Game Of Thrones Season Two **No Spoilers posted ITT please** Amazing episode, Tyrion kills it as usual but I particularly loved the Hound's meltdown as I didn't think he'd been going very well this season. Joffrey is great, he's going through puberty as they film and looks like 5 years older than last year which makes his bitchiness even more awesome. When I first started watching this show I didn't love Cersei. I take it back. Every Lannister is awesome. Soooo much to wrap up next week, I'm glad that they didn't try to intersperse Dany and Robb and Jon Snow and Theon with all the rest of this. Yeah stay away, the whole thread is Book 5 and my ...
