P5's Training Strategy Discussion: Hand From $50fo I think your logic is sound and i like it vs a weaker player, but the problem is that the river is such an obvious scare card, and he knows that you know this. Is he really expecting you to fold anything on the river that you called the turn with when the perfect barrel card peels off' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

P5s Training Strategy Discussion - Hand from $50 Cubed This hand has been analysed to death but all i would say is that it seems like a really bad bluff by him because your hand looks a lot like KX or AX after your flop check and weighted away from AX as you would presumably bet/not-fold on the flop with most aces. So unless he thinks you are value betting a K on the river a lot (entirely possible) then he'd be better off just calling river and hoping to see busted clubs/broadway draws enough of the time. That being said, if he expects you to value bet the river fairly thin then his line would be a great way to play a strong value hand, simply ... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Big Double/$11r Series Feedback Thread Great question dalix. I just watched that part back and on an unrelated note I made a mistake when I said "we need 40% when getting two-and-a-half to one" in pot odds. Obviously I meant to say we need 40% when getting 1.5:1. With 2.5:1 we only need about 28% and basically shouldn't be folding any hand vs a range where we're getting those odds. Anyway, as far as the hand in question is concerned (it's at around the 27:00 mark if anyone is looking for it), your points are valid and in retrospect I think a call would be preferable there. The argument that we can try to bust a good player is a ... Posted in: Video Discussion |

matusow r/fs JJ in ME Here's an updated link. matusow has 17k at the start of the hand and blinds are 150/300. he's previously been calling the opener "Kamikaze", so given that he thinks this and the other guy knows that he thinks this and will naturally assume matusow is taking a stand in the BB vs his CO raise, it seems pretty awful to be 3-betting JJ with the intention of folding. given this dynamic the guy is shoving way wide enough for JJ to call. Zedveron - $27 and $5d rebuy vid 2 Good question. I think a call would be in order for a couple of reasons: 1. Our hand is under-represented after our flop check, so in other words our range looks a lot weaker than our actual hand, which puts a lot more bluffs and semi-bluffs in villain's range, as well as putting worse hands in his value range such as weaker aces and nines. 2. Villain in the hand is both very loose and has a high post-flop aggression factor, which makes his range fairly wide (granted it means he could have more random jacks too), and the high AF should mean that he is more likely to be bluffing or playing ... AQ in bb vs zedveron's UTG 12bb push Those numbers sound right, but that's a pretty tight calling range, what happens when you add hands like AT and KQs, and smaller PPs etc to people's calling range' I don't think we can take one particular hand from our range and weight it up vs a very specific calling range. If people are only going to call with 88+ and AQo+ we should be shoving much much wider because they are folding way too much and we show a profit from picking up the blinds and antes so often. AQ in bb vs zedveron's UTG 12bb push Pretty sure i am shoving AJ, any pair, and some big SCs and suited aces here, so AQ is def a call. edit: chardrian beat me to it (and nailed it), an unexploitable range with an M of 6 is something like 66+, AQo, ATs+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs+ (according to the excellent charts in Kill Everyone), so a profitable shoving range is going to be quite a bit wider because people certainly aren't calling as wide as they should be. Zedveron, 27.50 and 5R Sure thing: Go to this website, / Click on the link at bottom of page that says current version, and choose the EXE version. A zip file will download to your PC, open the zip file and go into the folder inside the archive, drag the StarsHotKey.exe file onto your desktop (or anywhere it's easy for you to access). Run the file. Once it's running there will be an icon in your taskbar tray; right click on this for settings. On the left hand side of the settings panel are the functions, right hand side are the keys you assign to activate those functions. e.g. for the 2.4xbb bet, there ... Posted in: Video Discussion |

Holdem Manager You seem to have a pretty good handle on the subject. The only things I would add are that ideally your VPIP and PFR should be close together. To give some examples, a TAG style might be something like 13/11 and LAG might be 20/17. If these numbers are too far apart, like in your examples from the SNG, it means the player is calling too much rather than raising or folding: a common leak at low stakes. You probably shouldn't be trying to fit your game to a certain style, but moreso be trying to adjust to situations. You will find that you are naturally TAG or LAG, or somewhere in between, ... Announcement regarding my Full Tilt Screename/Identity Not sure how they found out - I had been playing under the account for over a year. the email address was different but my name was actually in the email address, which shouldn't mean much because if it was my mother she could conceivably not have her own email address. I guess they just put two and two together. At least they transferred my money and all my FPPs over to the old account. But yeah there goes about $100/week in rakeback! Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Announcement regarding my Full Tilt Screename/Identity Hey guys. I just wanted to advise everyone of the following, just so there is no confusion: I used to play on FTP under the name zaphod_11. About a year ago, before I played full-time, I decided I wanted to get rakeback. I opened a new account (zedveron) in my mother's name through a rakeback affiliate. I made no secret about any of this and I stopped using zaphod_11 entirely (as can be verified by checking OPR) when I opened the zedveron account. About a week ago I was notified by FTP that my account had been closed and that if I wished to keep playing there i would need to do so ... Posted in: MTT Strategy |

big draw on blank turn oop i like the c/r on the flop, obv we are happy getting it in at this stage when we are flipping vs his range for continuing and also have considerable FE. i think we should be shoving the turn, the ace makes it very hard for him to continue with lots of the hands he called the flop raise with (such as 66-JJ, Tx etc), and if he does have a hand to continue with, we figure to have about 25% equity, so we aren't totally dead in the water (although obv it would suck if he has AcXc but that's not a big part of his range) . without actually doing the math, i am guessing we need him to fold roughly ... JJ to UTG 4x in Stars 3r pretty clear shove i think. imo his 4x raise size is actually less likely to be hands that dominate JJ than hands like 88-JJ and AQ+ that are scared of playing a flop OOP. Posted in: MTT Strategy |

2 part question...part 1 interesting points. i think the case for flatting is fairly strong, given that the blinds could squeeze fairly wide with these stack sizes 9the SB has a good stack to shove and the BB can 3b/fold to the original raiser). that said, how are we reacting to the 3b' i think we have to get it in, given that it's just such a great spot to squeeze, and even if he does have a hand, AQ is pretty strong. anything i can beat here? meh, there aren't that many hands he can call the flop with and then value bet 2 streets. i'd definitely be calling the river and expect to see something ridiculous a large % of the time (although reads on the villain would definitely help there). betting turn also looks good, it allows us to control the pot-size better and there just aren't that many hands he can continue with. once you take a c/c line though i think the river's a call. hopeless call with crippled stack yeah you definitely have to call, you're getting like 6:1 or something right' you don't know if original raiser will even call, and the other guy could easily be 3-betting light with those stack sizes. but even if we give them both super tight ranges, it's probably still a call. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 17.195% 17.07% 00.12% 22021261488 158592144.00 { 72o } Hand 1: 43.948% 41.51% 02.44% 53538820200 3151191072.00 { TT+, ATs+, KQs, AJo+ } Hand 2: 38.857% 36.41% 02.44% 46972378440 3151191072.00 { 88+, ATs+, KJs+, AJo+, KQo } Posted in: MTT Strategy |

2 part question...part 1 flatting and 3-betting are probably pretty similar EV, although if you already 3-bet him once i'd probably be more inclined to 3b/call. so i'll say raise to 16k, call a shove. Posted in: MTT Strategy |

top pair and flush draw i think your cbet size is fine - presumably you would be betting the same amount with your entire range on this flop. given how much equity we have i think you should bet turn as well. Posted in: MTT Strategy |

Good reship spot? i agree with herschel, i think it's too much to shove profitably given his opening position; and you said he had only shown down good hands despite being active. against a CO or BTN raise it might be okay, but not here. set-mining would be pretty spewy here too. AQ on the button with 30 BB versus winner aprilsfool is pretty aggro, i certainly wouldn't be folding in this spot because he's going to have 88-JJ a lot of the time (depending on your table image). having said that, if you aren't comfortable getting it in with AQ then it's probably better just flatting. we're going to be dominating a lot of his opening range and have position on him post flop. once we 3bet i think it's a mistake to fold.
