It's been a while Yeah, it helps to have a twisted sense of humor. It was more the tension and turns during the hand than the outcome. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

AQ standard play?? Yeah, I agree here. I have to make him assign more of a value to that hand if I'm betting there. He's at twice your stack this late and is 2nd on the table in chips. While it can happen, chances are he didn't donk his way there. Without knowing what he's been doing it's hard to be certain what to do after the flop. But, going in I have to raise more. It's been a while I started watching on TV again, after maybe 2 years. I started looking through the forums. But, the Jarvis vs Mizrachi elimination hand I saw on ESPN from this year's WSOP just rekindled my love for this game. I got into two local games and started playing online again. What I've learned from my time off, and having seen that hand, is that you can do everything technically correct and still get screwed. But, that makes me want to play just as much. Where should I go? I had a fair amount of success up until about 2 years ago when I stopped playing. I was mainly on playersonly and full tilt up until that point. I've been looking to play again working my way up from low stakes. Where are the good places to go now' Carbon, Stars, etc' Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): help? All in pre-flop... When you have to open your bet for about 1/3 your total stack on a hand you intend to play through with...you don't want extra callers, you want chips. He would have laid down unsuited connectors, you would have taken a decent sized chip increase there. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Pocket Pairs in Mid MTT..how many times to fire? Most of the time if I play a middle pair and miss the flop, I won't challenge someone unless I have a good read on them. Here you're only against 1 overcard, but it's pretty likely for someone to call an opening bet with Ax so laying down here is not a weak move. You lost a bit of your stack, but you can get it back with a good steal a pot later on down the line. It really depends on what kind of fealing you get from the player. If they're in the final 60 they probably didn't make it that far calling with crap. Though, I guess you are giving them decent odds to chase a flush with... Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Playing AK in sng's before the blinds are huge Well, with high blinds and your stack of 1300-2000, if you're going to play AK, which you almost have to at that point unless there are raisers already in, you push it from the start. At 3000 chips, you can make a standard bet of 300-400 and not really lose much if the flop doesn't help you...it gives you way more options. You wouldn't have to push all the way with that hand unless you're still around at 4th street. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(1): Lay down this strait? I think you were too passive on the flop, which lead to your tough decision on the river. Sure, you want to get the maximum amount of chips from them, but you've got a scary flop for someone on a drawing hand. You needed to raise there. The way you played it, it looks like you'd be down to 2200 without calling...which is doable but it puts you in a much more aggressive set of starting hands. If you're gonna get knocked back to having to scrap for chips, I say push here...looks like a split pot. 2 high cards and made straight on the board I don't see someone calling the turn bet you made on a ... Re(1): Was this avoidable? I'm guessing no matter what you bet someone who at the time was holding trip 8's is not going to fold in a sit n go. He was probably praying that you were on a pair of aces, or maybe two pair with that ten. If I get A's full 10's in an 18 man sit n go with 2 players throwing money around I'm not going anywhere. That pot is going to be yours 99% of the time...this time you just got stung. Posted in: Poker Discussion |

Re(3): Full Tilt is sick Im loving the new graphics...a small update but much needed. It's alot easier to tell when you have notes on someone now. I actually just pulled some money from Titan to play there for a while. I'm going to build up a bit in in the SnG's and then try to get to some higher games with the satellite tokens. Re(3): Can you be a good SNG player and suck at MTT? Think of in terms of baseball. There are good hitters, good pitchers, and good fielders. Some good hitters are good fielders... Some good pitchers are good hitters... Very rarely is someone talented enough to be good at all 3, but they all require althletic ability. Poker is the same way... Cash games, MTT's, and SnG's all take slightly different skills though they're all poker. Accelling at one is good, but being good at all 3 is rare. Posted in: Poker Discussion |
