Usually, you get a yellow card for diving and/or handball and if you had another yellow card in the same game, the second yellow becomes a red and you get a 1-game suspension. That is not a ban, just a regular suspension. The fact that the game was a high profile one should not matter. If anyone is banned/suspended, it should be the referee, imo.
