I guess I just don't really see how backers CAN give warning. "Oh, by the way, I'm going to be dropping you in a couple of months in all likelihood." Backers would then have to worry about whether the horse will put forth their best effort and whether they will get back into makeup. Unfortunately, a heck of a lot of people are shady and might not give their best effort. Also, if you're out of makeup, and the backer wants to drop you, I hate to say it but that's the best
