So I went back and read the thread after I posted and I'll answer your question now ;) There is absolutely no purpose to pay into a union that offers you no security, but as someone that is paying into a union you should know the security you are receiving. If you buddy never talked to a rep about the unions contract it's really his fault he's in the spot he is now. The best thing I can think for him to do now is talk to his stores management about their decision as it pertains to him
