As much as it sucks, it is legal here. I don't know about in CA but I doubt its any different. A lot of companies will just apologize for the problem and eat difference.

Np... don't take it as 100% true but I know that's the case here. My gf is a business HR major, and I had a similar situation happen to me, so I found out then. It was sad times for my next couple of pay checks. :(

I'll be more specific about what happened to me when this happened, to possibly help clarify things. I've seen a couple people in this thread say that they cant deduct it from your paycheck without your permission, which im pretty sure is absolutely correct, but doesnt mean you arent held liable for it. When it happened to me, I was given the option to pay it back in any way I preferred, as long as it was paid back. I still owed the money, but the easiest way for me to pay it back was take

Oh, and Im not an independent because I like to be on the winning side all the time. As someone else stated already, I actually feel like I'm always going to be on the losing side.
