OP, The tissue is inflamed and probably infected which is called pericornitis. I would NOT recommend you trying to cut that piece of tissue off yourself (hope you are joking). The pain that you feel and will feel again is not worth it. Spend the 1k-1500 and feel better. It will save you tons of money down the road.
