I know I should be happy to get this in but this a 180 man starting with 1500 chips where stacks aren't deep and if it were a non turbo mtt with 3k starting chips I'm obv glad to get it in.
I think you have your structures confused. Since this is a shallow stacked tournament with a very fast structure , you should be thrilled to get it in with JJ in this spot, even against a massive nit. The only way you could even contemplate a fold button with
meh, won the next one i played...
Great job putting my advice to work so quickly... even before I posted it!

Thanks for the response Frank. I thought that you had a strong hand (something along the lines of JJ) but would give it up out of position against a bigger stack. Especially since you're right near the lead, had a very deep stack, and clearly are a much better player than most of the field. There wasn't enough reason to tangle with an unknown who could be sitting on a monster. I fully expected you to make a "big laydown" but you never really got the chance. I misread Sjonie as weaker
In my opinion, and please do not take this the wrong way, is that you should get a teacher or a coach and make them stop you from making these ridiculous plays. I looked at your records -- I have very little doubt that you would be making more 1sts and 2nds (rather than 3rds, 4ths and 5ths, which you have a lot of) if you stopped making such catastrophic plays like this one. Just fold the hand and move on.
You're correct. I blow up a lot when I have

Yeah, I know I'm a spazz/donk/clown, etc. but honestly, none of you ever take a line like this? I felt the stack sizes and the players I was up against were perfect for this particular move. Honestly I try this play very, very rarely (maybe three or four times total in my life and I've played countless hands) but this seemed like the correct spot for it and it's the first time it's ever backfired on me. The other times I've always raked in the pot without a showdown by getting

Okay, so I know I'm an idiot for getting myself in this predicament. I actually was fairly confident I would pull off this bluff here. Blueberleez is on my left and I'm sure he thinks I'm a random nit (cause that's what I am), and random nits don't three-bet relatively safe boards with complete air, especially when two opponents are showing that they both have a hand. I don't know the other guy, but he seems like a capable, thinking reg who is also going to read my bet as

Collin Moshman was gracious enough to notify me that there's a guy on 2+2 pretending to be me who is asking for staking. If you see anyone on IM using my name looking for a handout, please just block that person immediately. I don't even use an instant messenger or have a 2+2 account. I'm basically a poker hermit. I suppose I should feel flattered that someone has deemed me important enough to ruin my poker reputation, but mostly I'm just sick over this. Here's a link to the 2

Let me contribute a different perspective to this thread: 1. Playing a style that whittles yourself down to a super short stack (3-4 BB's, sometimes less) can be a VERY PROFITABLE way to play 9 player low-stakes SNG's. I know this for a fact because I did it for thousands and thousands of games, and my results at those stakes are as consistent as anyone's in the world. This strategy is not bizarre, and these players are not stupid as the OP seems to suggest. Rather, given the extremely

I'll rank myself 34th. I do well in them but everyone at my table says I play awful so 34th sounds about right. My opponents would swear to you that I do not look at my hole cards, but I must confess that I look, even if only out of habit.

I just assume my opponents play the same style that I play, but that doesn't work too well for me, especially since I'm far off in the land of Q-level thinking which consists of "mmmmm... pie."
