Congratulations. I have twin girls who just turned three a few months ago. Get as much rest as you can right now, because when they're born, your household will be chaotic at best. And you'll find your playing time on line quite limited.

It's situational for me. My computer is in my living room, so if my wife's up while I'm starting to play, I turn my iPod on and listen to Bach's Brandenburg Concertos mostly or some other classical music. She's usually watching TV, and I don't need to be distracted by what's on the tube. When she finally goes to bed, I turn off the music. I learned long ago not to play while our daughters are awake (twin three year olds). Way too distracting. :)

Maybe I'm missing something, but all this math tends to make my head swim. I know there's value to all this math, but I find that I tend to disregard it (no offense intended to Jennifear, if it works for you, then all the more power to you). I'm fairly good with math, but I never really made it past pre-calc (calculus befuddled me in college, but I think it had something to do with 8:00 AM class time). I can do percentages and figure odds fairly quickly, and for me, I think that's good enough. I

BFD. You made a silly bet and spiked a full boat on the flop. The odds of this happening is 1087-1. You got VERY VERY lucky.

This might be slightly off topic, but I heard that getting hand histories from AP can be a bit of a pain. Could anyone clear this one up for me?

A couple of years ago, my wife and I stayed at the Amerisuites, about 15-20 minutes away. Nice hotel with a continental breakfast, pool, and work out facilities.

When they were playing the PPT, I took a bunch of notes, mostly about the odds of this and that. From one of the graphics, the odds of an opponent having the same pocket pair as you is 1324 to 1. Pretty damn slim, but it can happen. I had a hand once where I had pocket aces. I'll let the hand history do the rest of the talking for me... As far as I can see, you didn't play that like a donk. You slow played, he slow played. He just had higher quads then you. The odds are somewhere around 100,000 to 1 that this will happen, and considering the number of hands played on PS, it's going to happen. It's ridiculous. It's frustrating. It's whatever you want to say it is. It's just a really, really bad beat. I once lost with quad 8s to someone spiking a striaght flush on the river. And that was in a cash game, where I lost about $35 in a

I don't know. I'm guessing he folded on purpose. I've accidently hit "fold" when I meant to hit "check" (the hazards of playing a little tired sometimes). I've always gotten a message on Poker Stars essentially saying that checking is free, do I want to go ahead and fold anyways? And it gives me the same options again, Check or Fold. I've always checked, and tried to wake up a little more. My guess (and this is kind of a wild guess) is that he had crap for a hand and didn't want to show the cards

Jeffrey, I enjoyed the article very much. I played satellites once (three in total, the $10.70 DS) to gain a seat at the Sunday Millions on PokerStars back in January. I was thinking much of the same thing, building a bankroll of T$ to get into other tournaments cheaply (I play the 8:00 $25+$2.50, 18K guarentee on a semi-regular basis, I've played 12 thus far, scored in 3 for a 27% ROI). Sorry if sounds like a dense question, but how do you translate the T$ into actual money? I was told when I won
