  • Re:Was this a good bluff?

If by "bluff" you mean your river bet, no it wasn't a good bluff. With 3 overcards on a straightening board, your flop and turn play didn't give villian any reason to fold JJ w/a gutter and when he fills up on the river, he's not going away. If you're determined to make a move with a board this wet, you need to make at least a pot sized bet on the flop to get him off his underpair and gutter. Villain needs to believe he is behind on the flop. If he flats your flop bet, fire

  • Re:Am I an overly aggressive idiot? Please help!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the min raise was fishy. Whatever he had, I think I should have slowed down based on that. In terms of the shove, my line was to get him to make a decision for all his chips (approx. $400) on a draw as a slight dog. It was a gambling move that went awry due to my poor read. If he's on a flush draw + outs he should be either smooth calling or shoving. In retrospect, his min raise didn't make any sense if he had a drawing hand.

  • Re:Should have my reraise gotten him to fold???

This is pretty straight forward IMO. With a limper, a min raiser and a caller there's $1.65 in the pot (6+ BBs) up for grabs - not bad in a $.10-.$25 game. "Short stack" is relative based on the stakes. In this case you've still got 44 BBs which means you've got decent fold equity to go with a strong draw. I think if you shove pre, with the action that took place ahead of you, the big blind has to put you on a bigger pair than 66 and fold his hand unless he's a maniac.

  • Am I an overly aggressive idiot? Please help!

FTP $2-$4 NLH I open from MP w/AdQh. BB calls. Flop comes Ah7c9c. BB checks, I bet $26. BB min-raises to $52. At this point I have him on a flush draw w/a gutter, the nut flush draw w/a medium kicker or possibly a straight flush draw - hands like Jc10c, 6c5c, AcJc, Ac10c, 10c8c. Other possibilities are 77 and 99, although I would have expected him to reraise pre w/medium-pair holdings oop. I can't put him on AA (one on the board and one in my hand) and I think he's reraising pre w/AK oop

  • Re:Help. Please, actually help.

To keep it simple. Two comments: 1) Your open w/A8s from the co is fine. Fold if you get repopped. 2) With top pair, weak kicker, on any coordinated board, bet the pot to discourage the draws or at least make them pay for peeling. If you get repopped, fold. If you get called, don't put any more chips in the middle.

  • Re:TOUGH HAND- 70k on stars

Most likely Villain filled up on the river and overbet the pot hoping for a call from someone thinking he was making a bluffy power grab at the 700 in the pot. He may have read the river as a brick for the field and figured he could either value bet a small amount or try to convince a slow played trip 9s to ship it. A2 was also a possibility here. After hitting the gutter on the river, a 5-high straight may not have wanted to let go based on the shover's passive turn play. I'm guessing you

  • Does any one agree with this laydown?

Full Tilt $2-$4 NL HJ limps for $4. Button calls, SB completes and I (BB) check w/6c8c. Flop comes 3c10c4c. Bingo! SB leads out for $12. I raise to $36. The HJ shoves for $120.90 and the Button calls (the button and I both started the hand w/$400 stacks). My read on the HJ is that he's a weak player but the Button is definitely a solid TAG. I'm having flashbacks about cracked baby flushes and lay it down at the wire. The HJ shows 4h4s and the button shows Ac10s. The board bricks and I'm

  • Where did I go wrong?

Full Tilt $1-$2 NLH I open for $6 from mp w/JJ. HJ raises to $21. CO and blinds fold. I call. Flop comes 2c10s2s. I check. HJ bets out $32. I raise to $64. HJ calls. Turn comes 9d. I shove and get called for $172.85. HJ shows KK. River bricks. My read on this opponent was that he was solid. I have to put him on a big pair when he calls my turn CR don't I? Thanks in advance for comments.

  • Re:Knocked Out Early

[quote user="Son of 51 LIMA"] Before I start, I will admit that I don't play tournaments with buy-ins this large, but I will still give my two cents. The only part of the hand that I would have played differently is pre-flop. At the point he raised, you had 100 BB's or so. Yes, your hand was definately ahead of his range for raising on the button, but there are still plenty of hands in his range that have you beat. By 3 betting his initial raise out of position, you are pretty much

  • Knocked Out Early

I just busted out early in the Full Tilt $350k knockout. The blinds were 15/30. It folded around to the button who opened for 100. I called in the sb w/KhQd. I consider coming over the top 3x, but didn't put him on a blind steal this early w/the blinds so low. I was concerned about AX and elected to call for 85. The bb folded. The flop came 6d10dQh. I liked the flop and checked to the button. He led out for 200 and I come over the top the standard 3x (600). He called. At this point I've got
