  • Re:Ridiculously complicated poker math problem revisited. Can any human being solve this??

    This is trivial: you don't say if villain calls 100%, but if he does: On the button, your stategy is to shove or fold: you shove anything which wins against a 100% rabge more than 9,950/10,000 = AA KK QQ JJ TT 99 88 AKs 77 AQs AKo AJs AQo ATs 66 KQs AJo KJs ATo A9s KTs KQo A8s 55 KJo A7s A9o QJs K9s KTo A8o A5s A6s QTs A4s A7o QJo K8s A3s 44 K9o Q9s JTs QTo K7s A5o A6o A2s K6s A4o Q8s K8o J9s A3o K5s JTo Q9o K7o A2o 33 K4s Q7s T9s J8s K6o K3s Q8o Q6s J9o K2s K5o Q5s T8s J7s K4o Q4s Q7o T9o J8o

  • Re(1): Short Stack Strategy - Tables Included

Maybe no replies, because you can calculate the cEV of shortstack shoves mathematically. Are your tables the result of a math process, or just a hunch? OK, I just looked at them, they are way off the maths, eg UTG 9 handed you can shove 22 with an M of 2.4 or less against tight opponents, but it is not +EV to shove it against a looser table. Against a loose BB, you can profitably shove 32o with an M of 6.8 or less from the SB, assuming it folds to you. Gl

  • Re(5): farm subsidies and zpaceman's article

This argument is completely false: farm subsidies are not part of the defense budget. It is an argument used by self-serving politicians to try to justify an economic idiocy, but it does not hold true. The USA is dependent on many imports, but for the purposes of national defence retains the strategic capability to replace these imports in the run up to war. In short, food production will not be a problem. One of the main problems with subsidies is that they provide a disincentive to innovation.

  • Re(7): Deep in MTT, Please Help

Here you identify the difference between the professional and the amateur way of thinking. The amateur mistake is to think that the difference in prize money between, say 12th and 5th is significant. It isn't. If you think it is, then you will be unable to make the plays you need to make to put yourself in position to get a top 3 finish. So the professional is happy as a happy thing to get all-in here with AK and if villain has QQ, so what? Your getting a 45%+ chance to make a big increase in your

  • Re(2): Building a Bankroll from $0

In your position, I would play freerolls on Intertops Poker, and as soon as you have won $1, start to play their 9c+1c STTs. Move up when you have $25. Cash out when you have $100 and play the 1c/2c 6 max NL games on Stars (2c/4c full ring if you can get onto PP - both are $5NL buy-ins). Now start to move up in 6 max cash: when you have 25 buy-ins move up, so $250, move to 10NL, $625, move to 25NL. When you have $1200, start to play MTTs, but only with moneys you have won in excess of your expected

  • Re(1): just starting out

    1. I agree that you should NOT buy in for the full amount, $2 is fine at this level. 2. Don't move up until you have 20 buy-ins min for the new level. 3. You earn very few FPPs at 1c/2c, so no I don't think you'll get there. 4. At 2c/5c you can buy in for $5, but thereafter you need a full buy-in 5. Until you learn a lot more, tight is right! Fold to reraises and large bets on turn and river unless you have a set or better. If you do don't be afraid to go bust with it, bet pot sized bets on all streets

  • Re(3): If you could - Would you be a pro?

Perhaps my most bizarre experience as a pro happened today: I have been helping out a friend by teaching English in his language institute while he is away on business and my wife has just complained to me that I'm not playing enough poker!

  • Re(1): Question for the SNG people

Stats don't look good! The whole point of stats is that they need to be significant. At this stage you don't know if you are a winning player or not. After 2000 SNGs, review where you are and then decide to move up or not. 10%+ROI = MOVE UP!

  • Re(2): GREATEST COME BACK EVER!!!

Done it from 50 chips in a sat trny, blinds were 1k and 2k. But best of all, I've seen it doen in a $215 on PP, from 3 chips. Now that was unreal.
