  • Wow! So nobody thought that was funny?

I can't believe that this place has gotten so ..... Used to be that things weren't so uptight around here that we could share a laugh at an old guy's expense, but I guess not anymore. And I am a poker fiction writer afterall. * and for those of you who really care - for whatever reason. The truth of the matter is that I taught my wife to play and she is currently kicking my fat azz all over the felt. I still cannot beat stars and I think I never will, but she wins all the time. *

  • Donk On

The other day I played an MTT. The thing that makes this even semi-interesting is that I didn’t play on my account. With all my losses lately I had begun to wonder if I was a marked man. By this I mean whether I had so saturated the poker playing community with my articles, videos, and general presence for so long that I no longer held any surprises for anyone. So I decided to log onto my wife’s seldom used account and play anonymously. For starters it was very liberating. Without the RPT logo above

  • Re:Ryan Fisler (Gotskillz, jusgivithere) in WPT Niagara

Huge props to Ryan! I didn't want to jinx him and post earlier, but I was rooting for him as hard as possible. Although I'm sure he is bummed that he didn't win it, 4th is a great accomplishment and he deserves it. I can't wait to see the live video on RPT

  • Knowing When to Say When

I haven’t been teaching or even playing that much lately. Every time I turn around it seems that something else has been added to my plate and life isn’t leaving me much time for poker. But that’s alright. I know the wheel will soon turn and things will ease up enough to put poker back into high rotation in my time. But there is one student that has been with me for a long time that I still teach a lesson to every now and then. We had a few hours together last week and I think our time together taught

  • Perspective Revisited

I live in central New Jersey. Like many of our friends and neighbors, my wife gets up at 5:00am and makes the daily commute into New York City for her job. For the past fifteen years she has worked for a huge, multi-billion dollar financial services company where she thought she would work until she retired one day. The problem is that my wife works for AIG. It’s funny how resilient the United States has become. The last time we had companies of this magnitude collapse and the stock market decline

  • Stubborn as a Mule

There are more than a few tales from around the world about traits that are bad for human beings to possess. From the seven deadly sins of Christianity to the Japanese homunculi to Lastikman from the Philippines, there are many stories about what happens if we fail to avoid these sins. This is true at the poker table as well. There are indeed many sins that can help separate a player from his chips at the table. For the purposes of this article I will only talk about one such sin, stubbornness. As

  • Rationing

Even after countless articles and a lot of time spent playing, a lot of people don’t understand the basic concept of rationing. Perhaps this is due to the nature of the typical poker player. With the rare exception, most avid poker players are not starving. Even those few players who have ever been “busto” have still had a roof over their head and some kind of food to eat. So, even though true empathy may be hard to come by, let’s imagine the kind of situation where real rationing needs to happen

  • Re:An open letter to Seal

tyvm Jennifear - much love and respect as always. My point in writing the article was simply to state my situation and also what I have done to rectify it. As for my own opinion of my poker, well, over the years I am up enough to make my losses at Pokerstars insignificant, so I am not about to just quit. But it does bother me that, if I never played at stars, I would likely be up at least another 25-50k. Maybe it's time for the coach to get a coach. I hear you do some good work ;o)
