  • Quick session

    By sharkzilla1 - Apr 07 2008, 02:21 AM

Played a quick 30 sngs tonight and made $114. No luck really putting up a good score on the leaderboard and I really dont ever see myself winning the "low" one unless I catch a sick heater. Tomorrow will be a much bigger grind, hopefully 80-100 sngs.

  • Slow week and Pokerstars Sng leaderboard

    By sharkzilla1 - Apr 04 2008, 02:45 PM

Well I've played just under 300 sngs this week, ~200 at the $16 level and ~100 at the $27 level and I'm only showing $244 profit :(
Its been a really long grind this week and I still havent really turned it around fully. However I think the really bad stuff is behind me. There is good news though today that the SNG leaderboard has officially been released and will start on Sunday. I have a few observations/questions that I will share, most of which should be answered within the first 2 months of it.

    1. Will this attract a lot of people to sngs, and if so will it attract a lot more to 18 mans because it looks like you get more points winning them, even though we all know winning an 18 man is harder than a 9 man.

    2. Will many grinders win the low "orbit" leaderboard? It takes 20 game blocks and it seems like it will more award anyone who just catches a heater. Which is fine by me because we will all catch fire once in a while. Obviously I'm willing to believe grinders will win the high leaderboards more often just because recreational players wont play 100 sngs a week.

    3. Will people spread out the stakes they play just to attempt to be on 3 leaderboards, or is it not worth it to drop stakes. I know my normal schedule will have me playing on 2 different leaderboards.

    4. Final question, how often can a solid winning player expect to be in the top 10 on any leaderboard?

Anyways its an exciting promotion with solid payouts. I know that it will reward people who run hot for a week but frankly I know eventually I will have to profit a tiny amount from this at least, which makes this +ev in my book.

  • Things are starting to look better...

    By sharkzilla1 - Apr 03 2008, 01:29 AM

Well I broke my play up into 2 sessions, mainly for the fact that if I play more than 60 sngs in 1 sitting I go nuts.

    Session #1: $491 profit from 55 sngs

    Session #2: -$192 from 35 sngs

Basically I ran well first session, and got crushed on the 2nd one until I got a little heater to win back like $300. I'm happy with how I played and I'm also happy with a day of 90 sngs. Nothing too crazy happened other than me being called a donk or luckbox a bunch of times. Pretty standard though.

Tomorrow I'm very excited, I'm finally getting to golf again. I just recently over the past 2 years really got into golf which is surprisingly big here in Michigan. The weather is finally starting to cooperate and I'm going to go play 9 holes(18 if I actually play well which is doubtful glgl me).

Other than that I'm focused on getting another good day of volume in. Really when playing sngs, all you can do is just keep trying to get the right amount of games in everyday and just let everything work itself out. It was a really frustrating start to the year which really took me out of my rhythm but now I'm back and ready to roll.

  • First blog

    By sharkzilla1 - Apr 02 2008, 04:18 AM

Well this is my first time ever keeping a blog and with the new P5 thing Ive decided why not start one up. I'm sharkzilla1 as you already know and I grind SNGs, almost exclusively 18 man turbos. I'm currently on the worst swing of my life which is seeming to start leveling off. Its been about 1000 games of break even play and I suppose it could continue but lets just hope the worst is over. I actually had to suck it up and drop stakes for now, which was some what painful but i took the ego hit and started grinding the $16 18 mans again while leaving the $60s. I cash out often so my online roll is never that large, which was the main point for taking the drop.

I'm not really big on keeping hands and dissecting them later, but I may start doing it if I run across some interesting ones during my grind. Other than that I may just keep track of random things such as my daily sessions, my life, sports, and basically anything doing with poker will find its way here. Currently I've been trying to up my volume which has gone well this week, I've played about 160-170 sngs in the past 2 days and should pick it up tomorrow. My night has been cut short for my econ test tomorrow, but you'll be sure to see me at the tables for a long session after that.
