Tournament Review for 3-18-2007

By Adam | Published Mar 19 2007, 02:26 AM

Sunday was a good day for some of the players that have been beating online tournaments for years.  Lucky Seven (left) and foshio (right) are two of those players who had major final tables.  Lucky Seven finished 7th place in the Sunday Warm Up on PokerStars, while foshio took 6th in the $750k Guaranteed on Full Tilt.

In that same $750k Guaranteed, three other P5ers were at the final table.  Fsoyars took 4th place for just under $50k, and jpmetalman and jstockton finished 7th and 8th respectively, each receiving a five-figure payout.

One P5er took down a featured event this weekend, and that P5er was kice32.  Winning the Bodog $100k was worth $25k, and it's notable that this tournament once again has a healthy overlay--for the second straight week, that overlay made up nearly 25% of the prizepool!  P5ers jermdawg and _johnnydrama_ took 3rd and 7th place in the event.

Another well known player had a big score in the Sunday Million this week, and that was Round42 (left), who's had quite a number of strong finishes in the Sunday events.  This week, he finished 5th for more than $41k in online poker's biggest weekly event.

The other two big events on Stars usually have a number of P5ers at the final table, and this week was no exception.  Yankees31 (right) took 3rd in the Second Chance, and P5ers jordankickz (5th), XTraCey (7th), and kwob20 (8th) weren't far behind.  In the $200 rebuy, callduhb1uff took 2nd place, making him the highest finishing member of the site.  Tork took 3rd and stpauli111 finiehd 4th in the event.  At the other end of the FT, sheets, hertfordheath, and emptyseat88 finished 7th, 8th, and 9th respectively.

UltimateBet's $200k Guaranteed was another big tournament with an overlay, and t soprano showed yet again why he's a top ranked player.  He won the $1M guaranteed on the same site several months ago, and this week he took 2nd in the $200k.  Exitonly was right behind, finishing 3rd, and P5ers TheMasterJ33 (5th), kingdan (7th), and BuckOhFive (9th) were among the final few.

Congrats to everyone who cashed over the weekend.  Here are the results.

About Adam

I was one of the original P5ers... Before this site existed, my friends Cal, Riley, and I were poker enthusiasts/railbirds who played primarily low stakes cash games and tournaments. We were all fresh off graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, loved poker, and wanted to become a part of the poker world. For years I managed the rankings system on this site and all of the content you would see on the front page. I now am mostly removed from the day-to-day operations of the site and am primarily focused on our company's rakeback business (including the rakeback section of PocketFives). I still take a very active interest in the site, and you'll often see me responding to threads in the forums on topics ranging from how to play AK out of position to what I think is the next legislative step regarding online poker in the US. I live in Escazu, Costa Rica about 5 minutes from our company's office. I primarily play live poker now, but you can still occasionally find me at the online tables, primarily as cassowv on Full Tilt or AdamP5s on Bodog. If you see me around the forums or at the tables, be sure to say hi and tell me how I played my hand wrong ;)
