Tournament Review for 5/13/2007

By Adam | Published May 14 2007, 03:12 AM

Cap'nJackpot (left) has been a highly successful online player for years.  This weekend, he picked up the big win on UltimateBet, taking down the $200k Guaranteed and its $45,000 first prize.  Dyzalot (right) was the runner up in this event, taking $27k for 2nd, and ranked P5er YoungSupremacy finished 10th.

Full Tilt kicked off the FTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) this weekend, and several P5ers had immediate success.  Aaron "Gotcha55" Kanter took down the first event, which was a $200 buy in NLHE event.  In the Sunday event, kice32 finished in 2nd place for more than $100k.  There will be a more in depth article soon on the FTOPS up to this point, as well as detailing what else is to come in the coming days, leading up to the $1.5M Guaranteed Main Event.

The PokerStars Sunday Million was still the biggest event this weekend, and two P5ers ended up being part of a three-way chop at the top of the field.  DuyTheMaster and Himclip85 took home $109k and $95k respectively after all was said and done.  Former Sunday Million winner ocrowe (left) finished in 4th place for $52k, and mcc3991 was also at the final table, taking 7th.

Other Stars action this week included the Second Chance $200, where P5ers occupied the top three spots.  Phantomoreo took down the event for over $45k, and dabears87 and bKiCe were the next two finishers.  Other P5ers at the final table included Mossified84 (6th) and ubsolute (9th).

In the $200 rebuy, ranked player tork finished third, with Gotskillz? and javahound coming in right behind him.  2007 Yearly PLB contender busto_soon and CrazyMarco were the 8th and 9th place finishers.

Also on Stars, 2006 WSOP Bracelet Winner Ian "Ian J" Johns (right) took third in the Sunday Warm Up for more than $25k.

The Bodog $100k was back to a big overlay this week, with approximately 1/3 of the prizepool being paid out by the house.  Six P5ers took advantage of this overlay by pulling in final table money, including Ozone, intervention, and HB_HITMAN, who finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.  The other P5ers at the final table were zurswierding (6th), Stiches (7th), and unita beaten (9th).

Congrats to all P5ers who cashed this weekend, and good luck next weekend!  Here are the results:

About Adam

I was one of the original P5ers... Before this site existed, my friends Cal, Riley, and I were poker enthusiasts/railbirds who played primarily low stakes cash games and tournaments. We were all fresh off graduating from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, loved poker, and wanted to become a part of the poker world. For years I managed the rankings system on this site and all of the content you would see on the front page. I now am mostly removed from the day-to-day operations of the site and am primarily focused on our company's rakeback business (including the rakeback section of PocketFives). I still take a very active interest in the site, and you'll often see me responding to threads in the forums on topics ranging from how to play AK out of position to what I think is the next legislative step regarding online poker in the US. I live in Escazu, Costa Rica about 5 minutes from our company's office. I primarily play live poker now, but you can still occasionally find me at the online tables, primarily as cassowv on Full Tilt or AdamP5s on Bodog. If you see me around the forums or at the tables, be sure to say hi and tell me how I played my hand wrong ;)
