PokerFox.net: Training Review

By Tracy

PokerFox.net is not one of first names that jumps to most people’s minds when thinking about poker training sites, but it should be.  This rather unassuming site provides fantastic instruction, with well-made videos and very, very good articles.  Unlike most training sites that give the option for a month-to-month membership, PokerFox only offers a two-month trial or an annual subscription.  The trial costs $39.95, while the full yearly membership runs $129.95.

Chris “Fox” Wallace (pictured left), writer for Poker Pro magazine as well as a PocketFives.com contributor, founded the site and has brought eleven fine instructors on board to date.  Interestingly, Wallace is also one of the instructors for rival training website, RealPokerTraining.com.

The videos presented at PokerFox are amongst the best that you will find online.  You can really tell from watching them that they were created and posted with a purpose, as opposed to some you might find elsewhere that sometimes look like they were just recorded and uploaded just to get something on the site.  The narrations are excellent – the instructors speak clearly and explain their points well.  The videos by Wallace, Mark “Mscell” Scellato, and "Hatfield" Adam Stemple are particularly good.  Learn from both of these experts free through our Free Training Promotion found by Clicking Here.

Most of the videos concentrate on Texas hold’em, and the majority of those are focused on tournaments.  It would be nice to see more cash game videos on the site.  As Stemple is an Omaha expert, there is also a wide selection of Omaha and Omaha high-low videos in the PokerFox library (including one which shows him stacking an opponent in the first hand of a heads-up cash grudge match).  Mixed games, stud, and draw are also represented on the site, as are lessons in software and poker statistics.

PokerFox.net members can also upload their own videos for other members to watch.  PokerFox management does not screen the videos, but feels that its members are good enough to only upload quality products.  There is no option to stream the videos from the site – they can only be downloaded.  But, to save time, you can simply copy the video link and copy it into the “Open from URL” box in your media player.

The articles, contrary to the videos, do not concentrate on hold’em, but rather are spread across many different subjects.  All of the popular game varieties, bankroll management, software, online poker, and general strategy are amongst the different topics presented.  Every article is very well written and is just as valuable as the videos.

Like any good training site, PokerFox.net has a superb message forum.  There is solid traffic throughout the forum with over 30,000 posts devoted to Q & A, Books and Software, Bonuses, and Rakeback.  I especially like the Q & A forum, which boasts the most traffic of all forums.  The page answers everything from How To's, to supplying vital news updates around the poker world.
