[Report Spam]Seems like only a matter of time until California has legalized online poker. According to CardPlayer, "A new online poker bill has been crafted in the state of California, one that would allow well-established card rooms and tribal casinos in the Golden State to win a license. The Internet Poker Consumer Protection Act of 2013, like its name says, would only legalize poker, and not other forms of casino gambling. In doing so, California would aim to join up with other jurisdictions to create greater liquidity. Not that California necessarily needs it, as the state has more than 37 million people. In the new draft, horse racing groups would not be eligible for online poker."

Dan: As a follow-up to this, according to a separate CardPlayer article, "David Quintana, a lobbyist for several of the tribes pushing a new piece of legislation, said that the odds are about 50-50 of something passing. There are a couple of other proposals sitting in the legislature that have hope as well."

[Report Spam]Closure for one gaming establishment in California. According to iGaming Business, "A little over a year after signing a marketing and naming rights deal with betting exchange and online casino operator Betfair, the Los Angeles-based Hollywood Park thoroughbred horseracing venue has announced that it will be closing at the end of 2013."
