  • Road_40K Last Cash May 14 2009

    By willmccoy - Sep 30 2009, 02:14 PM

So i say to myself that it has been a long time since i have cashed a online poker tourney. It has been even longer since the last time i have even went deep so to speak. These are the times when you just have to take everything in stride, and realize what's going on with yourself instead of the game.

I for one have not made a post on this blog or any of my other; As working 60-80hrs a week can been grueling. And although my will is still the same for poker,I have to come to grips with all the things that i have been though this year as well.

You see there is a such thing as making excuses when you fuck up; As also there is a thing called reality as well. And the reality of this all is that even though i know in my heart; That i want to play poker live or online 40+ hrs a week. I have to realize that i have a family and a job as well as a shitload of bills to pay.

Now this is not saying that i have run bad for these reasons; But now i have to face the reality and come to grips with it. For example in the morning me and my wife are moving into our new place. Now i am very happy about this, but i would rather spend the next two days off playing poker instead of moving in.

And this is pretty much how this year has been going for me; And after being so optimistic and setting so many goals for myself right??? "The fact is that it's just another reality check and you have to learn to deal with the real world as well sometimes.

Now if i were a weak man i would not be able to come to grips with my low volume of play; Or how poorly i have played when i got deep; Or the fact that i shoved the BB with Q7o from the small blind, just because he folds here 70% of the time and he held KQ calls and im out! LOL it's nice to be aggressive but being stupid is another story.

Well anyway i have 3 months left in 2009 to make the money and too run deep. I am still yet to win my first MTT although i have however been lucky enough to know what it feels like to win some real cash. It seems that i might just have to take the rest of this year to get right for next year. But whatever poker has in store for me i will be ready.

I feel and i am still very confident about my game and poker. I am very well in tuned with my strengths and my weaknesses so i am humble. Poker is such a lovely game as you have so many ways to play it; And so many things that you learn every single day that you play. There has never been a game that i have played in to date, where i didn't learn something new that make me that much better.

And even though i work a lot of times i feel like i am not applying myself like i used too. Since now i don't really have the time i think i need to stop being a bitch and make the time. Anyway guys be on the look out for me so explode here sooner than later. I am ready and all will see exactly what i mean once i get all of my priorities in order.

    CYA SOON

  • SCOOP my 1st TRUE ONLINE POKER SERIES

    By willmccoy - Mar 25 2009, 11:03 AM

Ok so the SCOOP is not very far away, and mainly all i am doing is taking a break from poker. This past weekend i played in a few SNG's and one MTT 6k on Stars just for routine purposes. As of today i have not played in 4 days as i plan to just take it easy until April 1st or so.

Today i read about CKingUSC once again taking down a killer MTT, the Sunday Million. And instantly i think about when i ran deep last June in the $50 70K for $11,288 and 2nd place. I remember being at his table in this same tournament last year; When i made a horrible play that ended up working out for me. At the time i had no idea how good this player was or would !be. And not too long after this he went on to win the WCOOP for over $1,000,000,000!!!!!!!

This just goes to show that when you put in the time and the dedication, I truly think that anything is possible. I will be 37 years old ths year and it really feels funny to me because i still feel so young; But at the same time i have been feeling like i was letting life pass me by. So i just felt like getting out this week and hanging out with the guys and what not!

Honestly after this weekend i can pretty much say that this was a break much needed, but not one i feel i had to take. Sometimes you have to get out of the box to see that it's better to be inside the box. And with this said i am looking to play very well in the SCOOP events that i have chosen to play.

  • Road_2_40K Thursday Sng Sessions 3 cashes 2 wins

    By willmccoy - Mar 20 2009, 07:02 AM

Ok so i have never posted any sng's in my blog as results. Well i guess i will start today with posting here you know! Well anyway yesterday when i got off work i decided to run a couple of $10 sng's. Now unlike many of you who grind sng's for the money; I grind them in low volume for MTT buy-ins.

Now im not sure if i have posted this information in the past; But as most of you know i played quite a few $50 sng's this week end and did fairly well. For the most part i play a pretty aggressive game in the sng's, but one thing i feel that a lot of people don't understand is the aggression factor in them.

My guess is that the avg player who grinds them for a hefty income could care less about this; For the simple fact they are playing 20-50 tables at a time or so. But if you are a player in my shoes that only 3 tables at max; Getting reads and observing the tables become very key.

During my sessions this past weekend i noticed that even though i did well. I was not as comfortable as i normally would be; And just for numbers sake i noticed that i often nit up to early in the sng's. Now im not a nitty player by a far but in every sng i bubbled or just cashed in for third; I noticed that i was the least aggressive of the 3 players.

Another thing that i also notice about my game and others; Is that if you play extremely stupid maniac poker, both c-betting and rasing pre everytime. You will often end up on the rail very quickly. So with these observations and HH's i went over i decided to add even more aggression to my game; But also cutting back on my c-bets in and out of position to balance the equalibrium.

So this week i began to play around with the 2.2 and 2.5 as well as the 3.5xbb raises from their respected positions. So far i have been very successful more so in the latter part of this week. As we all know you have to take a few loses when you begin to pioneer your game and style.

Anyway by bumping aggression in return for a move passive c-bet balance formula; I have been very successful this week in my play. This is also a stlye i have found to be very effective in my MTT play as well. It's more so gauged for the 3000/2000 starting chip MTT and quite effective in 1 table sng play as well.

With the SCOOP upon us i am working very hard to get a handle on my game before April 2nd rolls around. The 1st event and favorite is the 6MAX event with rebuys and i hope to just play well and run good. If i catch a few beats so be it but honestly i should have plenty of padding to deal with all the beats that may come.

Well anyway if anyone wants information on what im doing feel free to contact me. We may have much to share and offer one another as well.

    3. Strict Bankroll management-50/50 this year so far!!!!! When i have the money i pretty much don't care but when it's time to tighten up i do fare!!!!!

    4. play 100% @ all times- Im right at 75%

    5. Play 2 Mtt's per day atleast-Has not been Haps!!!

    6. Final Table the $27.50- ????? I have yet to play the 27.50 this year i think!!!
