Online poker is a global game with players logging on and grinding from every part of the world. Every country has a #1-ranked player and here we take a look at some of those that lead the way in their home countries.

‘hellohellohello’ – Russia

For the better part of 2018, Russia’s ‘hellohellohello’ has not only been the #1-ranked player in the country but he has also been a perennial player in the worldwide Top 5. The Russian is currently sitting less than $500 shy of reaching the incredible milestone of $8 million in lifetime earnings and he continues to grind regularly. Even though he has been taking some days off after the large fall online series he has still managed to post up a pair of five-figure scores in October.

His largest recent score came with his victory in the October 11 edition of the bwin.com Bounty Roller High Roller for $31,555 and 339.50 PLB points. He followed that up just over a week later with another outright victory in the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $23,851 and another 352.14 PLB points.

In addition to his October victories, back in September he pulled off back-to-back six-figure score and took home over $647,000 in that month alone.

‘hellohellohello’ is currently ranked #4 in the world.

Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao – Brazil

partypoker Ambassador Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao is not only generally regarded as one of online poker’s best, but he is also currently sitting as the #1-ranked player in Brazil. Like ‘hellohellohello’, Simao is closing in on $8 million in lifetime earnings and if he continues to keep grind as he has in October, he’ll likely get there by the end of the year.

In October, to date, Simao has earned just over $97,000. His highlight score came in the October 21 edition of the partypoker Super Sunday High Roller where he took second place for $42,875. It was his second five-figure score of the month. The former #1-ranked grinder is currently sitting at #16 in the world thanks in part to his massive month of September in which he picked up 15 PLB qualifying cashes, nine of which were for five-figures or more.

Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth – Hungary

Another player who has recently spent regular time in the top 10 is Hungary’s #1-ranked player Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth. Nemeth, the #7-ranked player in the world, is one of the few players in history to eclipse $9 million in lifetime earnings. Nemeth is a regular in the biggest online tournaments available having just made a final table appearance at the $25,000 buy-in PokerStars WCOOP-62-H High Roller, where he finished in sixth place for $201,804.

He crushed the month of September, regularly cashing in both partypoker’s POWERFEST and PokerStars’ WCOOP festivals. In total, he cashed for roughly $650,000 and accrued 14 PLB qualifying scores. In addition to his WCOOP finish, he earned a POWERFEST title in Event-29-SHR where he took first for $177,935 and an even 1000 PLB points.

Although Nemeth has been putting in low volume in the month of October, registering only six cashes to date, he already has two five-figure scores.

Matt ‘GINS FINEST’ Stone – Canada

After recently eclipsing over $5 million in lifetime earnings, Matt ‘GINS FINEST’ Stone has become the current #1-ranked player in Canada. He recently posted a major six-figure score by taking down PokerStars WCOOP-45-H ($2,100 5-Card PLO) for $101,928 and over 730 PLB points.

When many of the top flight poker pros were taking time off in the summer, Stone was grinding and racking up PLB qualified cashes helping him reach as high as #3 in the world. Since the end of the major fall online series, Stone has scaled down his volume and currently sits as the worldwide #13-ranked player.

That’s not to say Stone is not battling it out online in the month of October. To date, he has posted 18 results for just over $17,000 including a runner-up finish in the October 2 edition of the PokerStars $215 Fat Tuesday for $8,323 and 158.07 PLB points.

‘Dattebayo’ – Austria

Austria’s #1-ranked player is ‘Dattebayo’, a former top-10 ranked pro who is climbing back up the rankings. Back in 2012, ‘Dattebayo’ reached as high as #7 in the world, today he currently sits at #24. The Austrian is on the precipice of hitting $6.5 million in lifetime earnings, needing less than $20,000 to get there.

One of his country’s true grinders, ‘Dattebayo’ put in work in the month of September. He started the month off strong when he bubbled the final table of the partypoker POWERFEST #3-SHR for $20,000 and 237.23 PLB points. Then he wrapped up the month with a second place finish in the PokerStars Bounty Builder Hight Roller for another $29,587 and 328.39 PLB points. He recorded over 50 cashes in the month for just over $145,000.

It’s likely that ‘Dattebayo’ will hold down the top spot in Austria for quite some time as the next closest player to him in the country is over 3000 PLB points behind him.
