It’s hard to believe that an $11 buy-in tournament not only hit, but surpassed a $1 million guarantee, but that’s exactly what happened over the weekend, as the 4th Anniversary PokerStars Sunday Storm attracted 104,939 entrants, one of the largest-field online poker tournaments ever held. A five-way deal ended matters.

HesBluffingxtook home the third largest payday in the deal and earned $64,000. He officially took first place. Second and a payday of $56,000 went to PocketFiver Georgi dscturrr Nikolov, who scored his largest tracked cash to date by a factor of nine. He calls Bulgaria home and has been a member of the PocketFives community since 2013.

Ice_Glance and tykhe13, who finished third and fifth, respectively, took the largest paydays at a little over $65,000. Here were the final table results, reflecting the five-way chop. A total of 13,000 players made the money:

1. HesBluffingx – $64,897.18
2. dscturrr – $56,616.24
3. Ice_Glance – $65,600.00
4. Dispelsthem – $57,322.13
5. tykhe13 – $65,500.00
6. mamamima69 – $22,205.93
7. fabianw475 – $16,276.98
8. Tpunuc9IT – $11,931.03
9. RPHPESTANA – $8,745.51

PokerStars has certainly had its share of big-field tournaments over the years. In 2011 after Black Friday, the site held a Guinness World Record tournament that attracted 200,000 entrants at a $1 buy-in. The same year, a special Sunday Million saw a field of 62,000 create a prize pool that passed $12.4 million. In 2013, PokerStars ran another $1 buy-in tournament that had 225,000 entrants. Still, the weekend’s 4th Anniversary PokerStars Sunday Storm ranks as one of the largest-field tournaments in the history of our game.
