Chris 'Therealmoorm' Moorman almost took down another POWERFEST title on Tuesday

The 888poker LIVE series Main Event in London kicks off February 8 and promises to be a fun tournament for all who travel for the event. 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman will be there, playing in his former stomping grounds.

The British online legend formerly called London home and has great tips for anyone visiting the city for the festival. Not everyone who enters the 888 LIVE Main Event will be fortunate enough to make Day 2.

In advance of having the unexpected availability, Moorman shares five great ways anyone visiting London can enjoy their Day 2 outside of the Aspers Casino poker room.

“There are a lot of great things to do in London whether you are a local or a visitor. These are some things I’ve done myself and like to enjoy every time I’m here.”

1. Hit the Theater

“Go to a show. Some of my favourites that I’ve seen are La Soiree, Book of Mormon and Matilda.”

The “Book of Moorman” is written in many forms and the all-time leader in online tournament winnings recommends the hit musical from South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. If you’re looking for a good read after watching one of Broadway’s best, Moorman’s Book of Poker is available across online bookstores.

2. Indulge in fine dining

“Enjoy the amazing food that London has to offer,” Moorman said. “Restaurants I really enjoy here include Asia de Cuba and Flesh and Buns. Another really cool restaurant that I went to last time I was here for 888 Live was called Circus where people perform right at your dinner table in between courses.”

Circus is next door to the New London Theater and features everything Moorman mentioned at more. Get a show and meal all for one price at one of London’s dynamic attractions.

3. Fancy some footy?

“Attend a football match in the area. There are a number of teams who play in London so depending on which team you like best there will be many options. I support Arsenal and they have a huge Local derby versus Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, February 10 which will be a huge game and a great spectacle.”

Wembley Stadium sits just outside of London proper and plays host to one of the hottest rivalries in the Premier League. All bets are off (or on, if you fancy) when Tottenham Hotspur takes on Arsenal. The distance from Aspers Casino to Wembley is one-hour on London’s famous Tube.

4. Indoor screening at Canary Wharf

“Explore nearby Canary Wharf. Every time I play at Aspers I always make a trip or even try to stay in Canary Wharf. I love going to the Everyman Cinema which has luxurious seating with alcohol and food service delivered right to your seat.”

London’s answer to New York’s Seaport District, Canary Wharf sits on the water with shops and restaurants around. Moorman’s idea of fun in the area is to hit the Everyman Cinema. If you haven’t taken enough bad beats already, check out Molly’s Game.

5. Keep it Simple

“See the sites. If you aren’t from central London you can always visit some of the more traditional sites such as Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben.”

The famed clock and home of British Royalty are all within walking distance of each other. Start at the Thames River and explore London’s most historic sites.

“London is a multicultural city which is full of history and different things to do. It’s a great place for a tourist to go out and about in and explore.”
