888poker Super XL: ’joaomathias’, ‘susanboyle1’ Win Big on Day 10
As the 888poker Super XL Series heads into its final day of play, some of the bigger names in the online poker world are grabbing titles of their own. Saturday was no different as a former #1-ranked player and one of the top ranked players in Ireland each won an event.
The single biggest winner on Saturday though was German ‘KellerA’ who walked away from Event #49, the $215 Octopus, with $15,678 to add to his bankroll. To do so he had to beat the #18-ranked player in the world, Sweden’s ‘namlleh’, heads-up. ‘Namlleh’ known as ‘Pot4teUS’ on PocketFives, earned $11,658 for his runner-up performance. The $215 buy-in event drew a field of 261 players.
Kevin ‘susanboyle1’ Killeen, the #6-ranked played in Ireland, beat out 310 other players to win Event #49, a $55 No Limit Hold’em with R/A, for $6,695.10. Finishing second was Germany’s ‘Amasta89’ for $5,017. The 311-player field also made 165 rebuys and 216 add-ons to push the total prize pool to $34,600.
Half of Saturday’s schedule was dedicated to Six Max NLHE. Romania’s ‘levelingmode’ took advantage of the only overlay of the day in the $160 buy-in event. The 439-player field meant the event had a $9,150 overlay. ‘levelingmode’ ended up with the $15,000 winner’s share while runner-up ‘Juanfran1973’ earned $11,100.
The ‘Mini’ version of the same event had just a $30 buy-in and drew 849 players for a $23,347.50 prize pool.
Denmark’s Mads ‘jonhdinno’ Steninge Petersen beat ‘mioritmic’ heads-up to win $4,144.18.
It was the Turbo version of the Six Max that saw one of the world’s best online poker players shine brightest.
Former #1-ranked ‘joao_mathias’ won $3,278 for outlasting 2987 other players in the $55 buy-in Turbo Six Max NLHE event. Also making the final table was Canada’s ‘mindcrushers’. His sixth place finish gives him a 56.08 point lead heading into the final day of the Super XL Series.
The final event on the schedule was the $55 buy-in Saturday Challenge. The final three players agreed to a deal that saw each of them walk away with at least $4,800. British player ’rrstar79’ ended up with the smallest share, $4,827.69, but did go on to win the tournament. ‘nelisschuif’ finished as runner-up, earning $4,908.21 while Brazil’s Pablo Brito ‘bs_pab’ Silva took home the biggest share by far, $5,832.65, for his third place result.
The Super XL Series wraps up on Sunday with another 10 events – including the $1,050 buy-in Main Event that comes with a $1,500,000 guarantee.
