In the history of online poker there are a select few players who have been managed to have sustained success over the course of their career. Jon ‘apestyles’ Van Fleet is a member of that elite group and on Tuesday the Canadian-based grinder found himself standing tall on top of the biggest buy-in event of the 888poker Super XL Series with almost $88,000 in earnings.

Van Fleet, who was once ranked as high as #3 in the world, beat out 202 other players to win the $2,100 No Limit Hold’em High Roller event. To do so he had to make his way through an incredibly talented final table that included the current world #1 and #2-ranked players in the world Fabrizio ‘DrMiKee’ Gonzalez and ‘lena900’ as well as former #2-ranked Bernardo ‘bsdias’ Dias. In the end it was Van Fleet beating out Gonzalez heads-up to claim the the title and the $87,920 first place prize money.

The Mini High Roller, with just a $215 buy-in, attracted a field of 639 players. The final two players, ‘StorValle’ and ‘carpediem14’, ended up chopping heads-up play began. After negotiations were finalized the pair continued to play with Sweden’s ’StoreValle’ coming back from a slight chip deficit to win the title. He ended up with $20,323 while British grinder ’carpiediem14’ ended up with $21,326. Canadian grinder ’kamexxx’ finished third for $12,907.00.

The $109 buy-in Tuesday Challenge had a field of 713 players with ‘not_the-same‘ outlasting everybody to win $13,368.75. Russia’s ‘AfraidBubble’ not only made his way past the bubble but ended finishing second for $9,625.50, narrowly missing out on eighth career five-figure score and first of 2017. John ‘jfl1234’ Finnighan-Linkins, the #1-ranked player on the Isle of Man, finished third for $7,130.

The final event on Tuesday’s schedule was the $160 buy-in Turbo High Roller. The 371-player field built a prize pool of $55,560. Austria’s ‘sally_os’ and Swiss pro ‘obvo4sal’ made a heads-up deal and played out to a winner with ‘sally_os’ coming out on top for a total of $9,831.04 in earnings. ‘obvo4sal’ had to settle for walking away with $8,778.37 for his second place finish.
