For the third consecutive year, Adrian Mateos stood tall at the end of a PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker event on Sunday and added yet another accolade to his already impressive poker resume.

The Spanish superstar beat out 200 other players to win Event #28 High ($2,100 NLHE PKO Freezeout Sunday Cooldown) for more than $81,000 including $45,234.37 from bounties. The final bounty Mateos collected belonged to Hungarian ‘kZhh’ who earned just a tad more than $50,000. Stefan ‘mindgamer’ Jedlicka earned the bronze medal and almost $42,000.

Mateos previous two WCOOP titles came in a $109 Turbo NLHE event in 2018 and last year when won a $2,100 NLHE PKO event. Mateos, who has held the #1 spot on the Global Poker Index, also has a European Poker Tour title, three World Series of Poker bracelets, and a partypoker MILLIONS Main Event title.

The #5-ranked player in Germany, ‘cube.com’ shipped the win in Event #19 High ($530 NLHE Afternoon Deep Stack) to earn $55,618.76. Runner-up ‘MrBenasP’ walked away with $41,105.36 for falling one spot short of the title.

The biggest winner on the day was Norway’s Preben ‘prebz’ Stokkan. Beating out 107 other entries in Event #21 High ($5,200 NLHE [6-Max, PKO]) came with $53,625.94 from the prize pool and another $86,484.37 worth of bounties. Stokkan now has two WCOOP titles to his credit.

Other players who managed to pick up WCOOP titles on Sunday included ‘armadajp’ (Event #19-M), ‘PetitePutin669’ (Event #19-L), ‘va1umart’ (Event #21-M), ‘hassan77’ (Event #21-L), ‘doulas12’ (Event #28-M), and ‘LuckyDupe’ (Event #28-L).
