Jonathan Stewart was in the winning lineup of the FanDuel Saturday Million

How do you win big-field daily fantasy sports tournaments on a short slate? Go against the grain. Case in point: ‘albert1010‘, who won the FanDuel Saturday Million during the Divisional Round over the weekend for $120,000.

In a slate of just four games, the highest-owned player ‘albert1010’ rostered was 21% owned. And when most of a player’s low-owned roster goes off, he wins $120,000.

Let’s start at quarterback, where ‘albert1010’ selected Ben Roethlisberger. Going up against the league’s best defense without his starting running back or all-world wide receiver, it seemed largely hopeless for “Big Ben.” And for the most part is was. Roethlisberger didn’t throw a TD, but did have 339 passing yards, good for 13.56 points on FanDuel. He was the second lowest scoring player in the winning lineup, but was just 1% owned.

At running back, ‘albert1010’ had Charcandrick West and Jonathan Stewart. The former had largely taken a backseat to Spencer Ware in recent weeks, but West churned out 76 yards from scrimmage and scored once. He was 10% owned.

Stewart was the chalkiest player in ‘albert1010’s’ lineup, but only at 21% on a week with a pretty lackluster running back selection. Stewart scored twice in the first quarter against Seattle and went over 100 yards. He was 21% owned, but almost hit 4x value at 23.6 points on FanDuel.

At receiver, ‘albert1010’ had Larry Fitzgerald, Martavis Bryant, and Jermaine Kearse. Fitzgerald had eight catches for 176 yards and a score for Arizona, and most of that yardage came in overtime. Fitz was 19% owned since much of the field was on the other Arizona receivers. John Brown was 23% owned and Michael Floyd was 34% owned.

Bryant, filling in for the injured Antonio Brown, went 9-154 and added 40 yards rushing, good for 23.9 points on FanDuel. Whereas Bryant was highly owned in other games, he was only 20% owned in the Saturday Million.

Kearse, who had 49 catches during the regular season, caught 11 balls on Sunday against Carolina and scored twice. He was just 3% owned.

At tight end, ‘albert1010’ paid up for Rob Gronkowski, who entered the game with a bevy of questions related to his health. However, in true Gronk style, the Patriots’ tight end caught seven passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Gronk was just 11% owned after reports surfaced that he could be limited, but he ended up playing nearly a full complement of snaps.

‘albert1010’ selected Stephen Gostkowskias his kicker and the Carolina Panthers as his defense. Gostkowski had two field goals and three PATs for 10 points total and was 12% owned. Carolina scored a defensive touchdown in the first half against Seattle en route to 15 points. The Panthers were only 6% owned, as much of the field was on Denver’s defense (31% owned).
