Only 79 players have hit $5 million in online tournament cashes in MTTs that PocketFives tracks. It’s clearly no simple feat. But in 2016 two players have already passed that milestone.

The latest player to do so is Mexico’s ‘Blackk‘, who passed the $5 million mark on Wednesday. Five in the money finishes on Tuesday were enough to put him over the edge, including a win in the PokerStars Hot $162 for $7,800. ‘Blackk’ is up to almost 200 tracked wins overall and has 505 top-three finishes.

“It’s cool to get such an achievement,” ‘Blackk’ said. He didn’t expect to be this successful when he first started in poker either, explaining that money wasn’t the main driver: “Money is not the main reason why I play so much. I just love poker. It’s a game where everything depends on you and I really like that about it.”

Four of the his top seven scores came in 2011. They include his largest (a SCOOP $530 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max Rebuy final table for $81,000) and second largest (an FTOPS jersey for $64,000) cashes as well as a Super Tuesday final table and PartyPoker High Roller victory. Last year, a runner-up finish in the PokerStars $109 Rebuy for $38,000 was his best result.

The ten largest scores ‘Blackk’ has had over the years

Prior to playing poker, ‘Blackk’ was a student. Now, he’s racking up five-figure scores with regularity and said he’s amped for SCOOP to begin in a few months. “I’m waiting for SCOOP to start. There are so many good tournaments during SCOOP and so many good players against whom it’s very interesting to play.” Last year’s SCOOP took place in May and guaranteed $40 million.

‘Blackk’ spends much of his day playing poker and, consequently, does not have a lot of time for other hobbies and interests. As he put it, “Right now, there are not that many things that still interest me besides poker, as it takes a very large part of my time. So, sometimes I just have fun playing video games when I’m not playing poker, but nothing serious.”

He plays as ‘Biack88‘ on PokerStars, where he has amassed $2.8 million in career winnings, and as ‘alexander_rus‘ on Full Tilt, where he has nearly hit seven-figures. ‘Blackk’ is #236 worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings and #12 in Mexico; last year, he climbed as high as #15 on the global leaderboard.
